If for some reason your upload is removed and goes to dead links. It would be nice if you sent a working link to people that purchased it and politely PM you. I'm not talking about links that are months old or died years ago. I'm talking about links that are days old. If you don't feel the need to do so perhaps a refund request button could be attached to dead post.
While certainly a nice gesture, I wholeheartedly disagree.
The reason is, of course, is because one of those people could and almost certainly will be the exact same person that grabbed the link and then issued the DRM take-down in the first place.
So not only are you getting a strike for the share a second will soon get added. 3 strikes ur out, right?

Good point. With all the options available online there must be some sources of sharing that aren't subject to scrutiny. Temporary links that vanish in a set time or sites that just don't give a 4ork.
https://anonfiles.com/ doesn't work for me and links bogus files that don't look healthy for my computer. Is this an approved share link? It seems to be used primarily by one or two users and they will not reply to PMs. If that is their way around the system then providing temp working links shouldnt be that much of an effort to users that have tried to download files.
Kefka makes a good point. Additionally, while there's an email record of who reported a dead link, there isn't a record of everyone who purchased it (afaik). But people who PM me that a link is dead obviously get the updated link for free. PMing -- in addition to reporting -- should be the standard imo.
As for Anonfiles, uBlock Origin (adblocker) gets rid of all the junk on that site for me. Anonfiles is slow, but they reliably keep files up against DMCA takedowns longer than most. That's the reason it's used.
EDIT That all said, I agree that the members you PMed should have responded. I'm confused about why they wouldn't, unless they are inactive.

Agreed on the members spamming links but not responding to PMs. There are a few members that post to the blog but never do anything on the forums. I never understood that behavior.
Every purchase a person makes is recorded in their history as well as when they are active and what points they earned. So it will show what day I spent points and what item it was.

I'm interested in why mods don't play a bigger part in maintaining links that die. Wouldn't it be nice to have a backup of files they could repost if members leave or links die? Some sites that rip from here post as many as 6 alternative links.
Yes @D0gg0d and tracking who is reporting links as dead when they aren't (all dead).
I hope it's just people being stupid/lazy, and not those who do it so they can re-up themselves, or those from "other sites" who don't like their stuff being here. Most likely a combination of all three.Obviously members have point histories, but we blog posters don't get itemized receipts.

Yes @Enjoyify at 25pts a pop it's not that rewarding. The big points come with filling requests at 500pts each, and I don't begrudge that because they're the lifeblood of the community. I've still got points dribbling in from stuff I posted 12+ months ago and it does add up. And I might add, by far the most points I've accumulated in one go comes from entering the art competitions, so... put your render pants on.
Not to mention the time investment of uploading and replacing reported links...

I used to post frequently because it was more about sharing than points.
Mods use to sponsor contents and comment more. No idea what they do now.
I used to give away points I had so many. Now I just drop a few on stuff I might want and hope I get a PM.Sharing a few sought after items will usually get you more points than you'll ever spend.
I seem to recall people regularly offering 5k or more for items now its 500. That could be just my old age and memory being off. At one time they nerfed the points system. Not sure who was here for that.Did the site offer a Halloween contest or did a member? Did the site offer a Christmas contest or did a member? Valentine's Day? Did they move the contest area to a place that can be seen or is it still hidden and not even on a pulldown menu?
I literally had this conversation a couple days ago with a member here. People would post before getting all the bounties and never worried if they would get "paid" because they did.
I can recall maybe two instances over multiple years where a person didn't pay. It's a simple fix BTW. If a bounty was paid it was SHARED. It wasn't stuck on a HD till someone else begged for it.If you've read my old post, you'll know I suggested a ranking system on how much we share to what benefits we can access. Notice how your rank goes up with your points? Doesn't really have an effect does it, but it should.

I haven't been around long enough to remember the good old days, but I do think that complaining about how bad things are now only contributes to the general negativity that's being complained about.

@D0gg0d I want to be clear that I agree with you. I only meant to say that blog posting can be a frustrating and unrewarding activity. Maybe it was better in the past, idk?The comments about "community" are part of it. I get to know members and get little "thank you" notes when I share to Requests. Every person on my Friends list is someone I've had a positive interaction with. When I share to the blog, I only get reports and complaints. The recent period of bulk-reported image and share links makes this feel even worse. (Fwiw, I'm waiting for the bulk-reporting to die down a bit before I share some of my blog posts.)
I'm not looking to rant or to brainstorm fixes. I simply wanted to state my experience with the blog. I'll see you all in the Art Competition forum!
