I have no idea how many folks are registered/regular users here at the Zone. I know we are in the 10s of thousands.
I was thinking we should do a ZONE Christmas Project.
There are currently 104 pages with about 60 requests each... so about 6240 assets being requested.
If everybody grabs one, sometime between Dec 1 - Dec 25th and posts em, we ALL could have a very Dazzy Christmas.
I'm especially targeting the Lurkers who never up anything.
More details to follow, if anyone of you Grinches give a F*ck.
🙂
November 26, 2024 at 6:18 PM #2104877Would rather not.
November 26, 2024 at 6:52 PM #2104878You're asking for the improbable. We have 30,128 users, the vast majority of whom are leeches, parasites and bloodsuckers who feel entitled to an endless stream of free items and are offended if you ask that they contribute even the tiniest bit.
The hell with them.
We need to go private and cut them all off at the ankle.November 26, 2024 at 10:09 PM #2104896Buying points is not leeching since it contributes to the site's bandwidth charges.
November 26, 2024 at 10:56 PM #2104904"Most leechers already buy points...." I don't really think so Medusa but some might. I think most of them just build up some daily points and DL a few things like I did when I started.
If anyone wants to feel Christmassy or collegial they can join in our current art comp.November 26, 2024 at 11:39 PM #2104907I think most of them just build up some daily points and DL a few things
.....and/or create multiple accounts to buy items. They will also send points to one account to get requested items. I doubt we have 30K individual members, I'll bet that there's a pile of multiple accounts.
November 27, 2024 at 12:30 AM #2104914I'll start a go fund me account and everyone can donate to it.
Promise I won't use the money to buy the grandkids presents.
November 27, 2024 at 12:42 AM #2104916I can understand the "principle" behind the dislike of leachers, cheaters and those who don't contribute, but I can't see how it detriments me or other members. Is a pirate site the place to drag out high principles, fairness or morality?
November 27, 2024 at 2:56 AM #2104929Fuck Tiny Tim!!!
November 27, 2024 at 7:22 AM #2104949Thanks for the offer. I'm normally not one to turn points down but I'd rather earn them in a contest or eventually actually post something. Maybe one day I might need a boost.
I've Been hanging out at #1 so long I might develop a complex like Frank if something changed.

As mentioned earlier, there was a system in place for an Xmas 'goody-bag' - which was well supported and provided a large number of DLs [take them all or just pick and choose]Only those that provided a link for an item received the list of links to choose from.
If you didn't feel like joining in you got nothing. This was a good while pre-covid. There used to be a Stickie for it that popped up well before Xmas. I think it was posted originally by Monk [do you still have those details?]
It worked well back then - but then again, not so many negative comments at that time.
Merry Xmas [ except humbug munchers] 🙂November 27, 2024 at 11:15 AM #2104975It was Tomsk, long gone now.
We all helped him with it, but it was still a massive undertaking to organise & collate.
It was quite a few weeks work.
Shortly after that, he lost interest & moved on.
I don't know if it was related, but quite a co-incidence if it wasn't.

November 27, 2024 at 1:58 PM #2105000It must have been a huge amount of effort and organising.
Received several excellent Xmas bundles during those years.Pity he's not still around 🙁
November 27, 2024 at 2:14 PM #2105003The good old days. I actually posted content back then. Wonder what happened.
November 27, 2024 at 3:22 PM #2105023@medusa, 100,000 points = 2000 downloads on the zone. That's worth at least $20,000 in assets for $500. On top of that, this money goes to helping Hunter run the site. In the end, that $500 is more valuable to the admin than all the points on the site (since points actually have no real value outside of this site). He has to spend his own money to keep this site up and running. And getting a minimum of $20K worth of assets for $500 is a deal all on it's own.
Think of it this way: if you took $500 and filled 25 requests, then posted those assets on the blog afterwards, you would probably make about 100K points. By donating, you're bypassing the middle and getting the points directly. The first way, you help others on the site get assets they want, feel good about yourself, and get enough points to buy at least 2000 items from here. The second way, you help the admin, feel good about yourself, and get enough points to buy at least 2000 items from here. Win/win.
