I found Ideogram.ai a platform that I think will kill Daz3D, using Daz you need the app, download the model, accessories, etc, and use them once or twice. With this AI platform I can make a simmilar render in less than a minute just by typing what I want. Rendering in Daz and other apps as such takes a toll on your time and PC, I think Daz is gonna be out of bussiness very soon. I encourage you to try it, their platform allows users to create 10 images per day for free.

SO I have 5,000 points if anyone wants some since It is very unlikely I will be using them.July 18, 2024 at 8:49 PM #2083727Points: send 'em to me... I don't mind taking them π
The website: It's not free. You have to give them your identity (or an identity) and browsing history, which I suspect they will bundle and sell to the highest bidders. That's why they want your GMail or Apple login.
I didn't go any further than that, but let me explain what AI is missing right now:
- Persistence. Every time a new humanoid image is generated, it's almost guaranteed to be someone else. If you're trying to make a story or a series, that's not going to work out very well. With CG, the mesh always remains the same until I specifically change it. AI is making some inroads into this, but the training is (IIRC) excruciating. I'll leave it to the AI aficionados to correct me or be more precise about it.
- Privacy. Most (except SD and a few others) happens online, and everyone sees you do it. For me that's not a real big deal, but for the porn crowd (that is, the vast majority of CG hobbyist types), that's going to be a real big red flag. Your website proves that it's all going to tie to an identity anyway.
- Ownership. All the custom stuff I make or dial up or kitbash together... is mine. Anything you make or dial up in AI becomes something for AI to draw on to make something else (or just copy over, depending.) Copyright on my images is all mine. Copyright on the AI stuff is (sorry, guys) going to be murky legal ground until something definitive comes out.
Look - I'd LOVE to use AI. I'd love to take a dumb render and use it as a basis for an AI series of characters and stories where the person portrayed is the same exact person throughout. I'd dearly love to have it all sitting on my computer, so a network outage doesn't crimp my style, and so that companies aren't data-mining off of me just by using it.
But... it's not quite there yet. It will be, yes, but not today. Give me something I can download that overcomes all the stuff up there, and I'm in.
July 18, 2024 at 9:09 PM #2083734I guess it depends what you want and how you use Daz, and also maybe what your pc specs are.
Downloading the app, models and assets? Literally a non-issue for me.
Taking a toll on your PC? Not sure what it means. A 1080p render take me 5 min and i dont own a something something 90 ti.
Ai take 1 min to render an image? Thats only if you input something like ββa woman by the lakeββ and are happy with whatever the Ai give you on the first try. Ive heard its not unusual for ai artist to spend hours refining their prompts to get what they want, for 1 image.
With Daz, once all my presets are saved, I can easily render 50 to 60 images in a day and thats apparently not a huge amount compared to what others are claiming to be able to achieve.
July 18, 2024 at 9:11 PM #2083735First bold point is my main issue.
If you can't guarantee a level of repeatability, especially with a character & even outfit, I have no use for it.

July 18, 2024 at 10:45 PM #2083746Hey @rlcwallpapers, you've done nothing but add friends in the six months you've been here. No posts, no forum usage, nothing. Why the hell are you even here? I'm guessing that you're nothing but a shill to promote that trashy AI startup.
July 18, 2024 at 11:03 PM #2083748"All the custom stuff I make or dial up or kitbash together... is mine."
Only the images you make from it is yours. The content you used or kitbashed isn't and remains the property of the creator/vendor.
EDIT - I guess you mean it's there on you HD unchanged to be used again, unlike AI stuff."Copyright on the AI stuff is... murky legal ground... "
Opinions differ but I'd say that's 100% correct at the moment. So is your comment on persistence."....so that companies aren't data-mining off of me.."
Unless you're working with a local install that's a always a possibility, though not unique to SD, ie. Adobe, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube etc. all mine your data.July 19, 2024 at 2:47 AM #2083760Sorry to all, I didn't mean to come and pick a fight, it was just what I am doing at the moment and like some of you say, AI is still long ways to go, YES the character you ask AI to make is not accurate, the worst thing they have to fix is text, when you type something it comes out scrambled, so it is a long way to go but I think eventually that will be replacing, DAZ but worst people like artists, etc. To who insulted me without any provocation, you don't know me.
July 19, 2024 at 5:56 AM #2083778Not fully on the AI wagon yet. May not ever be but pretty sure the writings on the wall.
We went from this

to this in a little over 60 yearsI expect it to move faster than that with the advances in tech and shared information. You'll be basically forced into using AI of some sort to be competitive. Even Daz is playing with using AI as part of its process. AI will take over pretty much most, if not all of the digital art industry.
AI is editing pictures and theres things like deep fake. You can just about make anything now.AI will do to art what cellphones did to photography. I see no reason to sign up at the provided link
July 19, 2024 at 6:24 AM #2083779comparing current AI image creation with 3D is like comparing a slot machine with a calculator ... i don't think the current way AI for images work is even able to come close replacing 3D, no matter how good you train it or how much computing power you put into it. it will never give you consistent results ...
July 19, 2024 at 6:45 AM #2083780Good points Adam, but during the same period we also went from this to this.... not all smooth sailing.
The thing that gets me is the public is never asked or consulted weather we think it's a good way to go. Joe and Jane public are completely left out of the decision-making process and treated like children. I never voted for Musk or Starlink or Microsoft and their AI as all their stuff is presented as simply fait accompli. In fact, on their record, I couldn't think of a worse bunch to decide what is good for us.
July 19, 2024 at 6:53 AM #2083781You program result and for the AI to learn and remember. Girl walks down a street. Girl walks down the beach. If an AI knows how your girl walks that won't change. Girl "is" Sandra Bullock at age 25. AI remembers SB at 25. If you give a program data and tell it not to change specific values it won't. We have facial recognition software. A library of motion capture. 3D scans of people. Planes that fly themselves. Computers that follow verbal commands. Google maps. Personally I believe eventually you could verbally say X-program give me a video of Sandra Bullock in a orange bikini walking in Front of Starbucks in Miami and it would pop one out for you.
July 19, 2024 at 7:01 AM #2083782AI will eventually destroy everything as it is now. Doubt it will be for the better. They are manufacturing drones with AI intelligence to be able to select targets. AI has and will replace people in jobs. Whatever good comes from it won't compare to the bad that comes from it. It will be the most powerful tool used against people since the atom bomb.
July 19, 2024 at 7:39 AM #2083783@ADAM
i think you don't understand how current AI works, all it can do at the moment is take existing parts of similar images and throw them together based on how they were tagged before. it doesn't know anything, it has more to do with a search engine than with something intelligent. if you feed it with images of Sandra Bullock it can mix this footage with other similar images. but it doesn't know anything about walking, physics, lighting or real 3 dimensional depth, so all you get is a reproduction of something similar looking with the same angle, perspective and frame the AI has reference footage of ... but as soon you ask it to do something you haven't fed it before, it will fail. this sort of AI will never replace 3D because the way it works it is impossible to give you consistent results of the same subject.July 19, 2024 at 8:56 AM #2083794@Stachelzelle - ChatGPT just passed the US Medical Licensing Exam. No fk'n way I could do that. I think that Adam and I were talking from a wider perspective of AI rather that just making pretty pictures. I'm not an alarmist for doomsayer but just saying that leaving our collective futures to corporations to decide, with no say in it ourselves, seems fraught with possibly dangerous consequences.
Dystopian - loss of individuality, oppression, corporate control, and no way of changing it.July 19, 2024 at 10:34 AM #2083803It seems some ideas I read here are a bit outdated (understandable, since ai moves fast).
