I think that the entire idea of requests be eliminated. Folks buy and post as they like. We should also block anything being posted until it's been available commercially for at least a month.

Except for 3DORK's stuff, or anything else that's a cheap-n-trashy copy or hack. Maybe we could have a '3DICK Friday' where ALL of his stuff is posted at once.

Given the 'iclone' tidal wave of unrequested crap that has been posted recently, I firmly disagree.

    🙁

@Adelasia That's a really crappy thing to do. I wonder if it could become an option to block repeat offenders from receiving the link? It would go some way to eliminating that crappy behaviour.

    @eelgoo
Yeah, I find that the quality of the stuff posted to the blog has declined. There's a lot of really old stuff (personally, I like a lot of the old assets, but others might not feel the same) as well as all the iclone items. It seems more people - myself included, particularly if the asset I filled came from R3nderhub and was already in my library; as I've been banned there - choose to fill the request without scheduling a public post, that too can cause a lot of issues with multiple requests for the same item that overlap, particularly if it's a new or highly sought after asset.

I really think the main page should be DAZ and everything else in its own section.

I don't mind seeing random stuff but I want to see it when I feel like it and not have to sift through 3 pages of whatever to find the current DAZ post.

I'm no computer wiz but how difficult is it to have multiple sections dedicated to different content?

    Daz-people-g8f-hair
    Daz-people-g9-character
    Iclone-female-animations
    Zbrush-plugin
    Misc-ect...

Well, if you want you can put filters on the content using the tags. 🙂

Doing a search for "Male hair" doesn't provide good results since feMALE is included in 83 pages of mixed content.

"G8M hair" still poor because it includes a lot of random characters in 4 pages of content.

The pull down menu is nice but doesn't separate G3F from G8M. I'm pretty up to date on everything posted so it isn't a huge issue but it would be nice to browse all the G8F, G3M or even V4 items separately without convoluted acrobatics.

Ive not messed with iclone. Anyone like it over Daz?

We went through this a few years ago. A couple of people pulled their items and left, while the rest of us let it be.
It's simple, if you don't want it, scroll on by.
If it bothers/offends/pisses you off....leave and go start your own pirate site and run it exactly the way you want.

at least it's not as bad as searching on Daz site. 🙂

@itsmenotyou I find Rendo's search function even worse than Daz. Daz search was not too bad until they revamped the site. RDNA was my favourite, back in the day.

I think they made it that way on purpose to get you to buy other stuff not just what ur looking for. (kinda smart but irritating)

Maybe we might need to have a password system for the files (as in password protect the files), which would be a good way to track the files to figure out who’s leaking it out.

Now, I respect having multiple places online for files (it’s how the internet has been for years), yet leaching off of someone’s link (which could get the account deleted from too much attention) is just wrong and disrespectful.

    @ethiopia

Or just be lazy and visit sites that do organize it.

I always like the argument of "do it yourself". If you don't like the way the country is run then become President. If you don't like your current gas mileage design an engine that runs off water.
If you don't like having cancer find a cure.

I guess I could move to a country that has loose copyright laws and allow others to post links to material they brought but that doesn't sound like a good long term plan in my current position in life. Lots of things bother me but I'm not going to dedicate my life to attempt to fix all of them.

If they bother me enough I can either move on or find alternatives. If those aren't available I guess I have to accept the way it is or try and change it.

The system for filling out a request is unique per element, and the link is for everyone who has made the request. This makes it difficult to "customize" each download before it is made public; For the group of those who have requested it, a separate link could be made, and another for the upcoming scheduled one.
    Solutions:
-Let's forget a password for a zip or rar... Once unzipped, it can be recompressed without a password. It's stupid.
-Embed a watermark. It is a laborious method that involves the filler. You should "hack" a file, at random, and note what the file is.
    1. If a package contains DSON (text code) duf or dsf files, add the name of the recipient. This implies that each link is for a specific member, and modifying the DSON with the name of the recipient: It can be in the Author field, or as a comment. The filler should decompress with gzip (if it is compressed...), modify the chosen file, minify the DSON with my "minifier" or alternative. Let's remember that a DSON is a JSON, a normal java script. Notepad++ has a plugin called JSTools that includes the minifier, or online, like https://thejson.org/json-minify
It could also consist of altering a texture (if included...). With Photoshop or similar, include the very small name on an edge of a certain bitmap. It must be undetectable.
Obviously, you should recompress (with gzip) the entire package, and offer this personalized zip to the specific requester.
This implies time (about 5 minutes...) for each requester, having to upload each file (Name1.rar, name2.rar, etc...)
It could be simplified to a "mother" file for requesters, and left free of modification for the general public.
I insist: The fill out system should be modified, postpone the upcoming one for a week, and have two link options (the personalized one and the public one.)
2.- For a dll or an exe, it is required to use assembler, with IDA (this is an example...) or directly with a hexagesimal editor.
This discourages the "silly" behavior of being a leech.

everything i've posted on here in the last 6 or 7 years has been posted on 3dcu within 48hrs so i take my time when i find stuff to share. Sitting on a pretty big back log as i've been kinda side tracked building a db of renderosity products lately.
