I have a huge collection of models that were created for Second Life.
I would be willing to share them, but am curious, would simply posting them as OBJ files, or DAE files be okay? That would be easier for me to do then say, creating props, etc of them. I can do the latter, but it would take more time for me to post things and I think I have way too many things, it would be a lot of work to go through it all.
May 10, 2018 at 9:23 PM #600516Id be interested in seeing them but ive no idea what the best format is. Most of what I DL is obj.
May 10, 2018 at 11:05 PM #600590Well I have 30 gigs of stuff; clothing, hair, shoes. Lots of fantasy accessories. Like the photo below, lots of necklaces, staffs, headpieces, etc.
May 11, 2018 at 12:10 AM #60063330 gig is a LOT. Perhaps break it up into 500 meg bundles?
May 11, 2018 at 12:12 AM #600634Oh, I would probably just do a little at a time, just item by item, or maybe a group of things like shoes, or jewelry or whatever.
May 11, 2018 at 12:38 AM #600659Your examples look cool. Id be more likely to spend points on a bundle than a single item unless it was really awesome.
Ive not messed with Second Life but my google search turned up some poor looking characters. I read awhile ago of some people trying to port Daz figures into Second Life and games like Morrow Wind by lowering polys.
What kind of quality are the clothes and will they autofit G3 + G8?
May 11, 2018 at 5:34 PM #601539Many of the vendors in SL are the same folks making things for DAZ/Poser. They use the same tools, Marvelous, Maya, etc and the basis for a working model is based on Daz models. While good design requires trying to keep polys as low as possible, the game has implemented a lot of tools in order to accommodate 'bad design' of high poly models, like distance rendering control, etc.
Given all that, with clothing, you will be working with an OBJ file or a DAE, so you have to rig it.

Raw material is better than no material at all, right? Some of us are handy with rigging tools, this content can reappear as rigged/DAZ-Poser ready stuff.
May 11, 2018 at 8:31 PM #601693I csn only speak for me but Id mostly want stuff like furniture or buildings ect... Im not wanting to spend time rigging or learning to rig items.

FBX Files would be better for those who know how to convert them in DS or 3DS Max / Maya. It seems a waste if the original model has moving parts, and when converted to an OBJ it just becomes the opposite.
