I'm interested in seeing just how good Daz is in the right hands and how capable it is in providing a realistic image. I have gotten close occasionally. Mostly by accident and after being around since before Vicky Buster Ive yet to render an image I feel meets my goal.
Here are people who dont exist for setting the bar of what Id like to accomplish.

February 3, 2026 at 1:05 PM #2162286This is two of my most realistic renders in DAZ studio

February 4, 2026 at 2:25 AM #2162372I probably have too much time on my hands these days.
February 4, 2026 at 6:33 AM #2162394Unfortunately you've missed the bar set by the posted pictures.
@littleevie
Impressive. Which model, hair and texture were used for the priest? The hands look a bit off to me.
@otero33
“Since you seem to oppose any real discussion” I'm a fan of show dont tell.February 4, 2026 at 5:00 PM #2162512Those first 2 posted images are NOT rendered in DAZ studio they are AI generated ive got my doubts that DAZ studio can render like that but I am happy to be proved wrong
February 4, 2026 at 6:56 PM #2162534Thats exactly the point of this post.
The goal is to do a Daz render as close as possible to an AI image. Thats why I labeled them, 2 people who dont exist but I should probably have been more clear.
February 4, 2026 at 10:54 PM #2162564Fair enough, I've still never seen anyone who can render people in Daz studio who look as good as the AI ones do but even those still don't quite look real ,you can still tell they are AI.
February 5, 2026 at 7:17 AM #2162575For now.
On December 17, 1903, Wilbur and Orville Wright achieved the first powered, sustained, and controlled airplane flights at Kill Devil Hills
Look where flight is today.
AI is "the thing" that countries are laser focused on and spending billions on milking everything they can to advance it. Almost every company is trying to find a way to utilize it. Going so far as having it take orders at a restaurant. You can barely call a company without getting an automated operator.

You mentioned that you sometimes came close to achieving the desired result specifically in Daz. Could you also share those 'almost-there' renders from Daz? It would be very helpful to see the starting point you're working from. And of course, examples without subsequent deep post-processing in neural networks (like Stable Diffusion) would be especially interesting to evaluate the pure capabilities of Daz based on your work.February 5, 2026 at 4:21 PM #2162630Give me a couple days to browse my harddrives. I'm a poor organizer along with a poor memory. I can recall one example but I'll look for two.
Basing Daz capabilities on my work and you'll be disappointed. Distance and lower resolutions are your friend

Adam, of course, no rush. Chaos in the archives is often a sign of a rich creative history, so it's completely understandable.And thank you for the honest and insightful preface. Your first message spoke of interesting results you had achieved, so it will be very curious to see. With your experience, I'm sure you will impress! So please don't hold back — even if the renders are, as you put it, distant and low-resolution, I have no doubt you have something worthwhile to show.
This will be a far more valuable reference point than any abstract, AI-generated standard.
We'll be watching with genuine interest. Looking forward to seeing what gems you unearth from your archives in a couple of days.
February 6, 2026 at 3:08 AM #2162690Ok, don't expect much but here are a few renders I came across and I'll give you my best description of what I remember. I found one I was looking for but have not came across the other. If these aren't enough or you are disappoint I may try and post a couple more.
I think this is probably close to the limit of my/daz ability. There are a few things I could do/add but I am mostly happy with this image. I uploaded this here before but don't remember why

This one was labeled skin. she has no eyebrows and I was probably just testing a slightly modified skin or setting. The skin could probably use more attention but at first glance when I was scanning images I thought it looked ok but a bit off. I think it would look better if I changed a few things but its not a good render

This one isnt great but its not bad IMHO. My goal was trying to modify a pose and get a realistic pose and hair. I think I could add a better skin today.

This could use a bit more skin detail but I like this image and other than tweaking the skin I would probably leave it. I uploaded a similar and better image here for a contest that I havent found and it got a lot of praise. This is also probably the limit of my ability.

Anyone else can feel free to show me up. I am interested in what the limit daz can be pushed to but I doubt it will come close to AI. However none of the images I made I would feel I could make in AI because AI would pick what it thinks I want vs what I want. This however is changing or probably already changed.
In my many years here Ive seen a lot of people brag on daz. brag on themselves. Hate on others renders. Suggest tons of advice. ect... and in just about all cases they never post anything in the art forum. The same people that entered contests 5 years ago are the same that would post tomorrow if they are still here. Every so often a new person pops in then disappears. Now people are saying AI wont affect daz and its all peaches and cream while Ive seen people from here leave to AI and daz sites give AI as a reason they shut down their site.
I am far from being a great daz creator and have seen plenty of artist post impressive content but nothing can touch AI unfortunately and pretending its not a game changer is silly to put it nicely.

Thank you for sharing. This is very interesting and, in my opinion, far more valuable for discussion than the initial premise of the thread.Now we have a concrete basis for talking about Daz: not abstract AI standards, but real works, real experiments, and honest self-assessment.
This is precisely what the path to those results you admired at the beginning looks like. So, by all means, please continue - it will be very informative to see your other finds from the archives, especially that very "similar and better" one you mentioned. This is exactly what corresponds to the very title of your own thread, where the dialogue should have been conducted from the start.
February 6, 2026 at 4:19 AM #2162696Ill probably look again in a couple days. I went through 3 drives. Doesn't take long but ive got other random stuff to do. Id like input good or bad on the current post. Posting more without feedback seems pointless.
A couple of these are some of better images I've done. Also, I'd like some participation. Lots of people come here to download but I'd bet less than 1% upload any art.February 6, 2026 at 4:45 AM #2162698@d0gg0d
Adam, of course, I too am in favor of other people joining this topic. Rest assured, I will also post some examples later, although to be honest, I generally prefer not to do renders at all, but to occasionally tinker in the iRay preview viewport. However, for the sake of a complete picture, and especially given that you have already mentioned your other, much more interesting works, it would be more logical to first provide them, and only then expect feedback.Therefore, let's delve into this topic and your examples - this concerns you, as the creator of this thread, especially strongly, given your initial rhetoric.
