    I just upgraded from Daz 4.22 to 4.24. One of he things that got me excited was this page https://www.daz3d.com/blog/daz-studio-premier-and-daz-studio-4-23-updates?srsltid=AfmBOopfbWNv4SwvQcyua0-E7LsxPqy0RNqr1VMuq6N6Vj8GLtvpG45Z saying

    "Enjoy Genesis 8 auto-fit enhancements, which allow you to use Genesis 9 clothing on your Genesis 8 and 8.1 figures with more accurate fitting. This gives you access to a larger wardrobe without worrying about awkward fits, making your characters even more versatile. Genesis 8 clothing and hair can now fit onto Genesis 9 characters, and for the first time ever, Genesis 9 outfits and hair are now backwards compatible with Genesis 8 and 8.1 figures"

    I have tried a few G9 hairs that didn't load properly before, and they are still not loading OK.

    I get prompted with Auto-Fit and chose "Genesis 9" instead of "Genesis 9 MMX" but...doesn't work.

    Anyone that can tell me what is wrong???

    I haven't seen any discussion on this in their forums. It reads like a lot of marketing bullshit to me. It makes a big deal about aspects that everyone knows don't work, like the various export functions.

    It's called Studio premier....DAZ want almost $20 a month to unlock all these features. I think that version of Studio was reserved for PA's but DAZ saw a chance to make extra $'s.

    Aah! Didn't notice that it was only for paid customers... OK, then I know!

    Thanks a lot!

    They're seriously renting features out now?

    Fucking yikes.

    No, the autofit enhancement are supposed to be on the public version as well. The Premier has the Pose Converter and Shape Transfer as well as sculpting.

    @trader2h

    It's broken along with other 'features' according to @chonakz.
    Have you tried what the OP said? I'm not a native studio user but I'd like to know what works, and what doesn't 🙂

    @inversekinematics Nope, rarely do I find DS working the way it's supposed to be 🙂 It's always a great puzzle, every time I open the program, to find what's wrong with it this time. It's about 70 to 30, troubleshooting versus fun.

    Broken by design 🙂

    Even a buggy program like Poser that no one uses gets hacked quickly, so I doubt it'll be long before Premiere will be available with a crack.

    Even with this extra function - still doesn't change the size of the file when adding g9 hair to G8 figure. Pity there is no G9 to G8 hair converter.

    UPPDATE:

    This feature is NOT part of Studio Premier, it was a part of the 4.23 update! Why the F are they talking about a feature that already exists on the page for Studio Premier???

    That could be good news if it wasn't for the bad news: it is not a better conversion/autofit than those two that already existed (one of them is Genesis 9 MMX). All the hairs that failed with the other two also fails with Daz3d's autofitter. So back on square one in that sense.

    It is however fairly easy to use a G9F hair that doesn't autofit with reasonable results. It just takes a minute or two:

    !. Load a G8F
    2. Chose G8F and zero figure pose
    3. Make sure nothing in the scene is selected
    4. Load the particular G9 hair. The hair will be loaded almost always slightly to low, but as far as I can see the X and Z axis are fully aligned.
    5. Change the nudge for the up/down transformer (Y axis) to 0.1.
    6. Change viewport so you can see the upper part of the head/hair, move the hair into perfect position. You may have to change size.
    7. Parent the hair to the head.

    So far it has worked just fine with the hairs I have used in this way.

    It takes a minute or two, you can now use ALL G9 hairs for G8, it may not be perfect, but it works in most cases.

    @chonakz

    And the clothing?

    Morph assets was another great feature they removed in 4.24.
    I'm going to make a wild guess that DS will be subscription only in the future if you want to unlock all features.

    @inversekinematics, You don't have to guess about that. Look at what that James Thornton did with Cricut. Everything decent now costs money. The printer is still fine but everything from fonts to graphics costs money. Thankfully the community has hacked it and made it possible to use free and third party fonts and other graphic items.
    If/when Studio becomes rentware, you can bet that it'll be hacked in a second.
