The likeness is pretty good but the textures around the face seems to be off on Scarla: https://zonegfx.com/rks-scarla-for-genesis-9/
Frontal shot looks really good but from the sides the details become lower resolution the closer to the ears. It looks like the textures are pulled from a front face photo and stretched to wrap around the head. Does this mean RSK is basically just using programs like Face Transfer? Last time I tried Face Transfer was years ago and the result looked like crap. These are better than most of the celeb character vendors, except for the face textures.
Edit: I pulled the face diffuse and it's definitely a paste on with hardly any effort putting in to blend the textures.
August 8, 2025 at 12:34 PM #2140169I like the models, too bad he/she uses just 1 skin material on all the models.
August 8, 2025 at 12:38 PM #2140173IMO, they look good, but it is a shame they are not for G8. :0/

August 9, 2025 at 5:11 AM #2140306I noticed that on Scarla as well.
Maybe it will be fixed later if he have feedback.
Didn't get the problem on the others models I have from him while making render tests. Very good likeness on the characters even when using expressions (although you have to use the sliders to not go overboard instead of just applying the expression from the tab).
Beside a few 8.1 models I'm still using for pelliculiar renders like sketches using characters ported from games (mostly converted for G8), G9 is what I'm using, so not complaining.BTW, unpopular opinion, but while I agree that is was lots of issues on the start with G9, it's enough morphs and workarounds now to overcome most of the initials issues, same for the clothing, hair, etc availabilty. Especially since they improved using G8 stuff on G9. Does it requires lil extra work? yes. Worth it in my opinion.
While I'm not doing much closeups, mostly large scenes, the expression range, allowing you to mix and match expressions, separate bottom and upper face makes the difference with less robotic faces. Yes 8.1 did the same, but since they didn't keep making expression for it, it's a very limited choice for them. it is a shame? yes, but what is done is done.August 9, 2025 at 11:45 AM #2140345It all depends on what you are doing with it & personal preferences really. 🙂
August 9, 2025 at 1:26 PM #2140348This is 9. The upgrade to 8. It should be a step up not a step back. It should not required morphs of work arounds to fix issues. With the feedback from every version over the years they should have dialed in something that required Almost nothing other than the character morph. Instead they went back to something that failed once already.
The only reason to use 9 is they stopped supporting 8. I get decent results with 3 TBH. Im bored so I'm reinstalling 9 but if someone were to ask me what they should use I'd recommend 8. Supposedly 9 is best in extreme close-ups. Something I rarely do and dont see the need for. Some distance is your friend when trying to make renders look realistic. I've rendered the versions besides each other and cant tell much of a difference.
I do however mostly render females and have to fight against them looking like ladyboys. That not my fetish. Why not 2 separate meshes with a well structured breast system for females? The under boob gap, poor clothing physics and breast hugging are all PITA to deal with.
August 16, 2025 at 3:00 AM #2141290The skins on RKS characters are almost sandpaper dry. What surface setting adjustments do you guys recommend?
August 19, 2025 at 11:44 AM #2141809I just finished testing out RKS Angela 9. From a distance, she looks great, but when you zoom in and get a close-up of her skin, it's pretty unflattering, especially around the eyes.
The morph itself is great, it's just the texture. I ended up using the "Ideal 9" mat, and so far I like it.
August 19, 2025 at 8:16 PM #2141846I found out that the light you're using can get you better results with his skins. Mostly using Paper Tiger's stuff with it ATM.
This is what I got using it:August 20, 2025 at 7:09 AM #2141889Lighting is always a critical variable.
It can make bad skins look good & vice versa.
