Hi!
I have increasingly problems with using G9 hairs for G8F. In the beginning it was distortion of longer hairs in the neck-area but now more and more hairs wont load properly at all, they are not fitted to the head but hangs in the air around the neck. Two dForce hairs recently, loads properly but gives an error when trying to simulate (one of them is https://zonegfx.com/dforce-ak-curly-long-hair-for-genesis-9/, "Error preparing objects to simulate and collide").
I'm using the conversion that pops up as a drop-down when clicking on a G9 hair for G8F and is marked as "MMX - Genesis 9".
Is there a better tool to get G9 hairs to work with G8F?
August 15, 2024 at 7:17 AM #2086693I use Richard's excellent G9-G8 Clone.
It works pretty well for clothing & hair.
August 15, 2024 at 8:06 AM #2086698August 15, 2024 at 10:11 AM #2086700@eelgoo, I'm at a place right now where I can't listen to the audio and the PDF doesn't tell: how to use the tool?
I can find the dial for the morph, when dialing it, the body of G8F changes. But that's it!
I guess I have missed whole chunks of steps...
Can you direct me to somewhere where I can read me up on how to make a clone work...?
August 15, 2024 at 10:35 AM #2086702@eelgoo, OK! Stupid me! It was in the same drop-down menu....
Testing continues!
August 15, 2024 at 3:40 PM #2086721have you come to a solution with dforce hair?
August 15, 2024 at 4:54 PM #2086725I never bother with dfarce.
Too time consuming and not good at repeatability
🙂
August 20, 2024 at 10:44 PM #2087399I was going to suggest parenting and not fitting as a possible solution but if it's a "too heavy" or driver problem that wont help. Good luck.
August 22, 2024 at 8:20 PM #2087655Hi! Been away for a while....
Thanks @eelgoo , @donniebrasco , @gelstat , @frank22 for input
I have tested both https://zonegfx.com/g9-clones-for-g8-xm-f-video-tutorial-for-quick-jcm-fixing/ and https://zonegfx.com/mmx-genesis-9-clones-for-all/, what I can see they give the same result:
This one don't load correctly, the hair is hanging around the neck:
dForce Strand-Based Summer Style Wavy Long Bob Hair for Genesis 9
These loads to the head but are just looking weird:
https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-jamari-hair-for-genesis-9
https://zonegfx.com/mrl-afro-puff-for-genesis-9/These loads to the head correctly but simulation fails:
https://zonegfx.com/dforce-ak-curly-long-hair-for-genesis-9/These loads correctly but there is an anomaly in the neck area (hair stretched and/or bent)
https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-ps-jess-hair-for-genesis-9I would be happy to know if others have the exact same problems, if so it's not much to do I guess...
@gelstat , do you think you could you share your fixed version of https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-ak-long-hair-for-genesis-9? Would be really happy!August 22, 2024 at 8:52 PM #2087658TBH legacy hair doesn't have this problem and most look fine with a modern shader applied. :0/
August 23, 2024 at 7:55 PM #2087814August 23, 2024 at 9:17 PM #2087825@gelstat , I tested dForce AK Curly Long Hair G8.1 :
When loading the hair, it still opens the autofit menu. If I chose a G9 converter, the hair loads a fair bit above the head. If I chose "Unsupported", it loads correctly, BUT, simulation still gives an error message.
What can be wrong.
August 23, 2024 at 11:24 PM #2087833Thanks @gelstat but it still doesn't work...
So this is what I did:
1. Load the hair without anything selected - hair comes in and hang in the air
2. Use scene identification for figure and select G8F as preferred base
3. Click on hair and fit to G8FAt this point the autofit dialogue comes up anyway, if I click on "Unsupported" it fits to the head but simulation doesn't work, if I click on "Cancel" it loads the hair with mismatch to the head and simulation doesn't work.
What did I do wrong?
August 24, 2024 at 8:39 AM #2087872@gelstat I did a re-installation, files looks the same, BUT, now everything is working!
Thanks a lot!
August 24, 2024 at 10:41 AM #2087888I'm not wishing to rain on anybody's parade but, whilst I respect the tenacity, I don't really think a lot of the G9 hairs are worth spending a lot of time on.
Largely, I don't think they offer much extra. Certainly not for single frame renders anyway.
It is not as if there aren't a vast quantity of quality options with older hairstyles.:0/
