Hey guys. I'm wondering how I can get an object to rotate while staying in the same place. Example: I want to change the orientation of a spitting prop. I want to keep the spit where it is: coming from someone's lips, but instead of a downward arc like the laws of gravity and physics dictate, it rotates upward. I don't want it to move from the place I translated it to. I just want to spin it around without an arc that's like tether ball and then have to figure out a way to translate it to the right place when x, y, and z become wonky as hell. I want it on a global axis. Does that make sense? When I rotate, it rotates in a big circle instead of the same point in the scene. How do I fix this so it stays in the same place and just rotates without moving from that place? It's making my workflow ridiculously slow and adding an intolerable tedium. Please and thank you a thousand times if you can help me with this.

If I understand the issue correctly, then you need to select the joint editor tool and relocate the green thing to where you want the pivot point to be.

    One way to do it:

Select the item, then Create > Group (and make sure the parent to group checkbox is checked.)

Once done, select the item within the group, and move it to one side or another - as far out as you want it to spin from the axis.

Then, when you want to spin it like you described, you select the group, and rotate that.

That was enormously helpful, grouchy old fart. I just made a small plane, parented the spit prop to the plane, then made the plane invisible.
