Do we have to use this virus filled pop up filling nightmare of a site?

Who? We should me using either Mega or Google Drive. Those are the two "official" ones. Some also use MediaFire which I like, and a few other strange ones which I avoid.
    The instructions say...
"We allow Google Drive, web3portal.com and Mega.nz link only for now." but that may be out of date.

This is why I asked if the host site could be included on the info page - not to waste points and find it was a site that I would not wish to go to.
Happy if it says Mega [border line with Google, sometimes causes me issues]. the rest can usually suck-it.

Unlikely to bother with web3portal as not interested in adding another (free) web3portal account.

Maybe a field could be added to the Submit Post section to require the host to be input, and if not an approoved host the upload is not allowed???

I can attest that https://account.web3portal.com is malware infested and @Monk should not direct users to create accounts there. Even https is failing on that website, and http version is blacklisted by multiple security platform, for obvious reasons.

And thee are a growing number of post using the web3portal - which will not gain any points from me [which is unfortunate as some are interesting].

Also - annoying to have so many Patreon links that expect you to take a membership just to view the item. 🙁

If posters continue to add items hosted via Web3portal it would be nice to have a second option [especially as it expects you to register to be able to download -nope...]. Even the remaining dodgy sites that people use do not ask that.
It cannot be argued that they are offering a better level of security by registering, either [maybe some ulterior motive for promoting them?].

This is their report from ScamAdvisor:
Why does web3portal have a very low trust score?
web3portal.com has a very low trust score which indicates that there is a strong likelyhood the website is a scam. Be very careful when using this website!

When our algorithm automatically reviewed web3portal.com we looked at many factors, such as the ownership details, location, popularity and other factors relating to reviews, fake products, threats and phishing. A trust score is created using all the collected data.

Although the website seems to have a very low rating, be aware that our algorithm is not perfect. It may not be a scam but a legit and safe site. It is therefore always wise to do your own research as well.

    Positive highlights
This website is deemed to be popular by Tranco with a ranking of
    The SSL certificate is valid

    Negative highlights
The owner of the website is using a service to hide their identity on WHOIS

A Malware report has been detected for this website
The registrar has a high % of spammers and fraud sites
This website has been reported for network abuse by iQ Abuse Scan
This website has been reported for spam by iQ Abuse Scan
This website has been reported by iQ Abuse Scan for malware
This website has been reported for phishing by iQ Abuse Scan
This website has been marked as threat by DNSFilter in the last 30 days
This website seems to be used for NFT scams...

Definately no DLs from them, or an account set up..... 🙂

I've heard bad things about Web3portal, so I've always avoided it.

However, I've used Anonfiles a lot and never had a problem. (Though I haven't used it recently, so it may have changed.) It was always a pop up site, but uBlock Origin/DNS adblocker removed that junk and made it look clean. The advantage of Anonfiles is that they don't respond to copyright strikes for weeks (if ever), so stuff that gets reported stays up longer.

To be fair the web3dportal posts have a mirror which is megafiles. Maybe it's a trick to stop vendors taking links down?

If there is a mirror download option it should make that clear on the front page.
The only mention is for web3portal - and if that is the only one then I will not chance the points.

Personally I love anonfiles and web3portal. Never had a problem and trust every time.

    ...

    Not. 😄

    Yeah stay away.

Viva MEGA. (May they stay in the circle for ever.)
