Hello all! I desperately need help and I tried google-ing this and it didn't seem to answer my questions, so maybe someone here knows what to do. I hate Daz studio simulation as most of the time I have problems with clothes blowing up or getting sucked into my character and becoming all warped, so I like to simulate in Marvelous Designer instead, which became a god send because clothes fall more naturally, but now I encountered a problem. I tried to import and simulate this dress (dForce Peasant Dress for Genesis 8 Female(s)) onto my avatar and when I simulated it, the dress detached from the top and fell to the floor. Sometimes, with certain outfits, buttons go flying as if they weren't sown in properly. So my question is, is there a way to fix this? For instance, can I merge the dress somehow in Daz Studio before I export it? or Fix it in Marvelous Designer before I simulate it? If anyone has an idea what to do, please let me know. I really appreciate all the help from this community! Thanks in advance!

(P.S. This is mostly for Daz 3d/Renderosity clothes, as I don't make my own clothes in MD.)

    Sincerely, Mary

@animelovers2 The "peasant dress" is complicated.
Apart from what LivingPixels comments (I use Rhinoceros7 to join the meshes, in this case, 95..., and they are not perfectly separated) You must make a "welded" mesh for each part, separately, and here comes the work: the dress is all tied together, with meshes that are part of the skirt, bodice and blouse... In DS, you can use the Tools/Geometry editor to cut it... To top it off, we have her headscarf, which requires adjustments of material stiffer than the blouse in MD... The apron is also supposed to be stiffer than the skirt, etc...
A brutal use of tacks in MD... for the waist, and those puffy folds that the blouse makes between the arm and the forearm..., which will be lost if you don't adjust its physics in MD very correctly.
And, of course, if you want the "all at once" simulation, the collision calculation between everything...
I tried it with the pleasant dress, and... honestly, I got desperate and sent it to the trash can... 😀

And of course! Daz doesn't import mdd or alembic, so you must use Maya or Cinema 4D.
    A mess!

It's a common issue when we sim a Daz garment in MD. The garment mesh is not so-called 'welded' when importing obj into MD. MD's people have not found good resolution for it so far. Using other software to make it 'welded' is another topic that it will take time and sometimes you may have to break the 'original design' of a garment~~
For the falling issue of peasant dress, the simple workaround is that you may track the bodice and skirt together by using several pins. Then adjust the skin offset and friction value in Avatar's properties, and tweak the gravity and air damping value in Sim properties.
I tried and the result is pretty well. For some garment with butttons, small straps etc. that will fly away, you may pin the relevant mesh to make them much more stable.

Besides,I myself prefer dForce which can make perfect simuation as long as you can well tune the properties in dynamic surface as well as Simulation parameters. All the tricks are in there~~

I remember now this script: Animorph. A obj squece to import in Daz...

@littlepleasures thank you for your response. I had a feeling it was a weld issue, and I wish there was a quick fix, but it seems not...such is the problem with my life, lol! I was trying to find a way to weld items together in MD but I wasn't sure if I could edit daz clothes that I didn't create. I will experiment to see if I can. I don't care what morphs the original clothes came with because I import my own morph with morph loader pro so that shouldn't be an issue.

thanks for your reply, I had the same urge to toss it in the trash as well. Sometimes I think I barely understand how to use Daz Studio let alone MD, so learning another program like Blender or Rhinoceros7 is not something I'm keen on...My brain is running out of room, lol. All in all the process that you're describing to fix the dress sounds complicated and I am again tempted to throw it away and find another article of clothing to work with. But I will check out that link you sent and hopefully it will help, so thanks again.

thank you for your reply as well. The problem I have with DS simulation is this: for some strange reason, when I auto-fit garments (especially garments made for G8 to G3) the clothes seem to get sucked into my character as if they are generating their own gravitational force and no matter what settings I choose in the simulations tab (changing the gravity and air resistance or material settings and etc.) nothing seems to work and will sometimes result in explosions. I don't want to change my character's pose to help with simulation which is why I use MD so that I can import my avatar into MD in an A-pose, import add the garment, then import the posed version of my character as a Morph target, most clothes seem to simulate perfectly...except of course for clothes that fall apart like the peasant dress. I will also try your suggestions and hopefully I can fix the issue.

Thanks again to all who responded! Your help is appreciated!

Yeah, understood and experienced a lot. Auto-fitting will transfer G3's T-pose rigging and the projected weight maps are different from G8's. So normally what I do is: change G3 to A-Pose, modifiy G8 garment's preferred base to G3, transfer G3 A-Pose rigging to G8 garment and then fit it to G3. It'll be much better.
I've presented a tutorial but it's not in English. You may search SickleYield on Youtube, she ever made a similar tutorial.
For the incurred explosion while simulating the garment, it results from multiple collision. 1st try to avoid hands/fingers intersecting with the garment esp. when you use timeline, move them away and then move them back after simulation. Besides, you may reduce the value of Iterations (Per Subframe) and Collision Iterations (Per Subframe) in Sim Settings, increase Contraction-Expansion Ratio a bit in garment dynamice surface. It will work fine for most of the cases~

    Thanks again for your response

I have tried the method you spoke of with the rigging and such, and even then I get problems, but I think it's because my character's pose is considered extreme, even though it looks basic to me. I will try to play with the collision iterations as I don't think I tried that yet, so thank you for the advice. Like I said, even now I sometimes feel like a noob when it comes to daz as I mostly trained myself to use it by watching YouTube vids and when they start to get too technical I think smoke starts coming out of my ears because my brain is overheating lol. Anyhow, thank you for your patience and kind advice!
