https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWeFyPM-i2wSeptember 4, 2022 at 7:56 PM #1863494Let say you are a movie producer and you want to make bank. Do you think more people would pay to see a real naked Margot Robbie as Harley or a naked animated version?
Id preorder the 4K of the first option.
Some people are into toons. Some people are into furries. Some people are into stuff I won't even list. But if you want to sell anything in mass quantities you need to appeal to a broad audience.
I'd be willing to bet based off most of the content posted from Daz here on DA and other places that toons aren't on the top of most people's fetish list. So the less talent you have investing in a product the less quality products will be produced. How much detail and texturing is really required to make a toon?September 4, 2022 at 8:43 PM #1863506Basically they make what sells.
That tends to attract more potential vendors.
The more cynical of them tweak a few morphs & pump the same thing out under a different model name.
It still sells.
:0/September 4, 2022 at 11:53 PM #1863524That seems to be the pitch for the last few years. Its gotten us a "better" Ghostbusters, a new Doctor, MaRey Space Jesus Sue, A rewrite of She Hulk, A cluster #$%& of Tolkien's work, The death and replacement of John Connor, An Improved Bat suit, The slow destruction of Marvel and Comic books, The first of several things that were never the first, ect... I can do without diversity if it brings out a better products.
"The Boys" however is pretty diverse and Amazing so I guess it can be done with the right people in place.

September 6, 2022 at 6:01 PM #1864130You could probably use that in Daz. You could also use these. I mean they aren't as plentiful as some things, but they are out there if you look for them. I came across 15 pages on Daz not to forget most everything at Rendo is Daz compatible is some way and that's roughly 20 years of content. There are tons of freebies on other sites as well.
I could easily scrape up enough toon content in a day to have me bust rendering for the next year.https://www.daz3d.com/star-2-0-stellar-bundle

While some (many?) continue to struggle through with DS as an "it's all there in a place, and why branch out, convert, convert back again, free-ish" tool. The main attraction continues to be the available and constantly updated content. Certainly not for the "animation disabilities", among other deficiencies.
Creating one-off renders is still far and away the major reason to use something like DS, it would seem. Animation can be... interesting. Realistic and convincing? Probably less so. Certainly difficult/cumbersome, no matter the result.
Iray has improved a great deal over the years, but still arrives short of the base quality of other (albeit much more higher-priced) engines. But let that diesel motor run long enough, and polish the chrome, and things can get, I dunno, respectfully good - on the DS-cheap.
I suppose bedroom-studio-ist renderers have to break in somewhere. Maybe some of us will never learn/educate/graduate to other platforms. Maybe that's ok. Or, if and when we do, we'll have a seasoned level of pain, frustration, and knowledge to carry us on into the new, easier to use tools. Who knows. -
