There seems to be an increasing number of outfits being made for G8.1F that do not fit to G8F, which is really crazy! :0E
I suppose all it needs is a G8.1F to G8F Clone for autofit to recognise it?
Is there one available or has anyone made one, please?

October 3, 2021 at 4:45 AM #1735360G8 to 8.1 will work but not the other way for clothing or textures. Daz has said this since 8.1 came out. Someone will probably make an auto-fit clone at some stage, and maybe a texture converter.
October 3, 2021 at 8:32 AM #1735393It just seems madness that anyone would make the market for their clothing product that limited.
Surely it wouldn't take that much effort to make things useable on the slightly older G8F?A lot more effort was made to ensure things were still compatible to G3F for at least a couple of years after the G8F release.

October 3, 2021 at 9:08 AM #1735413I have a feeling that DAZ is just trying to maximize revenue by any means possible. It feels a bit like milking the last bit out of the customers before selling the business, calling it quits or whatever. No idea what's going on there, but I am a kinda suspicious.
October 3, 2021 at 9:15 AM #1735414Daz marketing has always been a bit sleazy, but I think they are still minting it, so I doubt they have any intention of walking away from it. :0/
October 3, 2021 at 9:22 AM #1735417My point really is that, seemingly increasingly, folk are making things just for g8.1F & shooting themselves in the foot from a marketing angle if those items cannot be used on G8F.
Surely it doesn't take that much effort to make it G8F compatible & maximise your returns?

October 3, 2021 at 1:12 PM #1735494I'm not convinced of that TBH.
There are plenty of sales to be had from folk using G8F.
It is odd though that more of an effort at legacy support was made when they jumped from G3F to G8F.

October 3, 2021 at 1:37 PM #1735499Anyway, is it viable to create a G81FtoG8F clone for the autofit function?

October 16, 2021 at 11:39 AM #1738866I don't know the process of creating an auto-fit clone, but have you tried changing the scene identification of the item before fitting to G8.1? (Scene tab > hamburger icon > edit > Scene Identification - change the value of Compatibility Base or Preferred Base accordingly)
October 16, 2021 at 11:42 AM #1738867No I wasn't aware of that one.
Probably worth a try.
TBH An autofit clone would be easier.

November 3, 2021 at 7:48 PM #1745585Right OK.
IIRC I have had a few instances.
Off the top of my head I can't remember which, but I will make a note of them when I come across them again.
I had tried that approach but it failed for me on a couple.
I suspect it is going to be related to specific vendors, but I will collate some data & get back to you.
