What would be a good set of system requirements to run DAZ 4.15 smoothly
and render with Iray if you would be having a new PC built in September 2021?Can I have a detailed list please?
I will send the list to a PC Builder so I can get the price.
ThanksSeptember 6, 2021 at 7:43 AM #1727560Requirements IMO - at least 16GB of sys RAM, 1080+ GPU (preferably at least an RTX2080), I7 CPU of some sort, a few TB for storage, money of course. Depending on where you live you'll be looking at at least 2 grand US..... sorry. It ain't going to be cheap whichever way you look at it.
September 6, 2021 at 8:32 AM #1727568In your case,I would recommend HP Z600. It would be a tremendous improvement considering the PC you're working on now (can't remember exactly but if memory serves me well, you have an older comp).
It's old, alright (2010-2012) but this beast have two processors (Intel Xeon X5670), each with 12 cores. That gives you 24 cores for CPU-based rendering.
Excert from a review published in Digital Art Live, No 47:
"3Delight - A scene of 3400px multipass renders with Light Dome Pro-R took 5 minutes."
"iRay - Same scene using 'Interactive' for the viewport makes it more responsive but using Photoreal iRay for rendering appears to give better light-bounce quality and thus can lighten the scene shadows. Render time - 6 minutes."
"Poser - Firefly" - Amazing results were had, once the settings were increased to maximum. Yes, really... It appears that the Xeons are actually held back by using the low/fast settings! Just set firefly to automatic/Final MAx.+ then switch over to manual, increase bucket size to a massive 512, nudge down the ray-tracing samples a touch (6 to 4), and watch the Z600 tear through a 1800px render in about four seconds!"
This is a very robust piece of hardware, components are common and easily replaced, almost military-grade build quality. It will last you 5-6 years. You will need an SSD drive, though, to run Windows 10. They usually come with 12 gigs of RAM, but you can stuff it with up to 96 gigs.
This thing turns an overnight render into a ten-minute render. I've seen it with my own eyes.
The best part - You can get it for less than 400€. Refurbished.
HP Z600 - Definitely the biggest bang you can get for your buck!
September 6, 2021 at 9:11 AM #1727578NVIDIA DGX Station A100 320GB.
- GPUs 4x NVIDIA A100 80 GB GPUs (320GB)
- CPU Single AMD 7742, 64 cores, 2.25 GHz (base)–3.4 GHz (max boost)
- System Memory : 512 GB DDR4I would only buy it on Black Friday.
The above system is not payable. I've read that a dual RTX3090 doesn't help either.
May be waiting for Daz Studio 5.September 6, 2021 at 9:16 AM #1727579The CPU won't help you much as the GUP will do almost all of the heavy lifting, unless the load won't fit to GPU VRAM in which case you may as well have no dedicated GPU. Morphs will slow loading times but once the morphs and textures are loaded to GPU memory (if it fits) it won't effect render times from then on. Likewise a SSD vs HD has no effect on render times and very little difference on load times. Let's not confuse load times and DS responsiveness with actual rendering.
So basically get the best GPU you can afford because that's the thing that's going to make all the difference if you're rendering still images or animations. -
