I found out from a friend a store I shopped at for years, PoserAddicts, is closing its doors, and was pretty much only Poser related stuff up until Daz brought out Genesis. The site has been around since I started back around 2000 or so. I got some really great stuff from there over the years, and many of the things were made by people who left and are now at Daz and Renderosity as top sellers.
My friend told me they took the entire inventory to 60% off to give those of us who use Poser and V4 and M4 and K4 (and even V3, M3, D3, H3, A3, F3 a chance to get stuff really cheap. They also have some adult stuff that isn't available on Rotica or anywhere else.
Apparently their hosting service won't support their store PHP version so it will kill the store software when they shut it off.
I've not seen much of their stuff on the shares before, but I know a lot of it is pretty cool.
Anyway, thought I'd let you guys know if you are Poser folks still using V4 M4 A4 H4 K4 etc. And there are tons of pose sets and clothing sets etc.
I just spent a bunch of money there and came away with tons of stuff I can auto-fit onto Genesis 3 and Genesis 8 figures with "Wear Them All" in my runtime.
Anyway, thought I'd mention it.
AnjaBearMay 16, 2020 at 12:51 AM #1602344Thanks for the notification. It looks like they are opening a new store in the Fall, so that's something!
May 16, 2020 at 3:48 AM #1602352They are planning a store which is going to be more Daz Studio oriented. But I think they feel the Poser direction is a dead end.
My friend told me that they want to do more with stuff Daz won't be doing. Lots in the direction of gaming and fantasy and even historically accurate stuff.
I'm excited about this because I like doing stuff that's not some half naked woman with a sword and some skimpy unrealistic outfit-I'm a woman and like seeing renders of hot and handsome and rugged men, so kill me...
We shall see what they do. I felt bad when I heard that the owner lost a family member to Covid-19 in March, which made me think to help let others know he was closing that store, ending an era in Poser history.
I already spent a lot over there, and got some cool things made by vendors who have since passed away or left the industry. It was fun just looking through all the stuff.
Everyone stay safe and healthy,
AnjaBearMay 16, 2020 at 7:24 AM #1602359It is sensible to go where the investment is going to.
Loyalty only gets you so far.
As much as I like V4 it is four generations old, & that is the most recent Poser natively supports.
There have been many low budget attempts to keep it going with new base characters, some of which have had limited success, others disappeared almost immediately.
I must admit to being quite baffled as to why 'Rosity bought Poser.
If a specialised software development company can't do much effective with Poser, they are going to struggle even more.
( No I don't rate La femme & L'Homme ).On a positive note, I'll be looking forward to see what they can come up with, based on current Daz technology.

May 16, 2020 at 11:46 AM #1602418I talked to the former manager of PoserAddicts and he told me a really sad story of how the Poser community just turned it's back on them, the moment they had one or two vendors who made "Daz Studio/Genesis 1" compatible products, which were not for Poser but for Daz Studio. He told me this was when the Poser -vs- Daz Studio wars where a huge battle and the Poser people insisted that Daz Studio was garbage, and Poser was like a fine champagne, and they would die defending how great Poser was.
He told me one by one, the vendors refused to support anything Daz Studio - and even worse they began leaving the store when a Daz Studio & Poser direction was introduced. At that time he said - Daz slowed down making the Poser installers and the Poser CF files for products.
The wierdness happened that in the end - many of the big vendors at PoserAddicts defected -- but not to Renderosity or to Smith-Micro and Content Paradise -- but to Daz3D !!!
Now they are some of the biggest and top selling vendors at Daz3D as Published Artists. Bunch of hypocrites.
Personally I always thought whomever at Smith-Micro and before, making their human figures - was blind and never actually looked at real human beings before. The figures made for Poser, be it originals after E-Frontier sold it, to the other attempts like Dawn/Dusk at Hivewire3D, and now LaFemme/L'Homme which I was told is actually a full rework of a figure called Paulette from over a decade and a half ago. And no wonder everything V4 and M4 fits them... Rendo is actually doing refits of products I had bought 14 years ago, at PoserAddicts, and are reselling them for LaFemme and L'Homme as "NEW"...
What is sad is, that Royloo, from China, was ahead of his time making stuff for Poserr use, and those are still ahead of their time, and will disappear when PoserAddicts is gone. I tried to convince them to maybe take some of that stuff and find modelers to really redo them, with dForce and Iray for the newer Genesis 3/8 and give them new life, but not be rehashes of old stuff, but really new updated meshes and stuff.
They told me they are going to make a DS version of their FemaSu2011 figure, and that excited me cause I love using that with my alien scenes. Reminds me of a Kaminoan from StarWars. Plus there are tons of freebies for the figure at ShareCG.
Let's hope people will give them a bit of love on the way out and it will inspire them to create something really cool and new for us. We also can use a store that isn't only Femme & Lolita and Futa-centric like Daz seems to be.
@eelgoo could we maybe make a separate discussion thread about what people WISH stores would make for use with Daz Studio for their rendering, and maybe talk about what Daz isn't willing to make? I can pass the ideas forward without letting them know it's coming from the Share community.Everyone Stay Safe and Healthy,
AnjaBearMay 16, 2020 at 12:01 PM #1602431That isn't a bad idea.
Knock around a few thoughts & see what concensus we get.
There is always a danger of people pulling in opposite directions, but discussion & exchange of opinions in a polite, considerate manner can only be of benefit to all.
