When a model needs to wear a hat or a helmet, they either have to have super short hair cut or be bald.
I don't want all my 3d girls looking like Sinead O Connor.
Guys can get away with the skinhead look, but girls need to have hair.
I know i shouldn't complain because i don't buy the stuff but,
you would think after all this time someone would have come up with an easy solution.October 23, 2019 at 1:28 PM #1297563there is a script for it may be get it work
October 23, 2019 at 1:38 PM #1297572Found something interesting, But have not tried it yet. In Character Creator, you can set clothing layer depth. May be a nice solution. Let me test it and I'll get back to you.
October 23, 2019 at 5:45 PM #1297838Render it twice, once with hair and once without (use spot render for the second pass to save time). Then in Photoshop take the layer without hair and give it a "Hide Layer" mask, then simply paint over the parts of the hat where the hair is poking through. I've done this numerous times and generally it works quite convincingly.
October 23, 2019 at 6:43 PM #1297894The Idea was good.... but it did not work....
October 23, 2019 at 8:04 PM #1297963Personnaly, when i have a character that i plan on using a hat in his/her outfit, i create custom d-form morph that push and tuck in all the hair that poke through the hat in question.
First, i take my character with his/her hair without a hat. Than i pose the hat on that character's head like i want him/her to wear it. Then i got around and see where the hair poke throught the hat and create some d-form morph in the hair that push in those string of hair.
It's a bit teadious and can take some time to make at first, but you only need to do it once and after you can save those morph. So later if you want to re-use the character with the hat, you only need to make visible the hat and activate the morph back and bing, it's ready to go again. You don't want him/her with the hat, hide the hat on the character tab scene and put all the special d-form morph you create back to 0 and there you go.
October 23, 2019 at 8:34 PM #1297990Yes, I know what you mean, I did once try that idea when i came across a youtube tutorial where he was using that same method with a deform tool. I just gave up after a few minutes of trying, I threw the hands up in the air.
That tool is still a rather unknown thing to me, so I really need to spend some time messing about to see what it can do.October 23, 2019 at 8:39 PM #1297994I always forget about photoshop, because I dont usually do much post work.
That Idea sounds so simple, I might look into that layers thing...I need to work on my PS skills.October 24, 2019 at 10:37 AM #1298687This is not a pro answer but works for me when I don't want her to be completly bald:
HY Ponytail LowBun Hair for Genesis 3 and 8 Female(s)
https://www.daz3d.com/hy-ponytail-lowbun-hair-for-genesis-3-and-8-femalesThe hair is so tight to the scalp that it almost never gives poke throughs, if needed, I avoid giving a blond girl a dark hat etc and then the few hairs that might have been seen is invisible.

October 24, 2019 at 4:45 PM #1299031Hey thanks, Turns out I actually have that hair but have never used it.
I tried it out and Its not bad.
BUT just now, as i type this out talking about tight pulled back got me thinking.
I know that there is some hair types that has a combed back, slick style, i will look and try those as well.
Right now I am trying out that sickles "hat and hair helper" and as soon as i can get that hang what does what It might be a solution. There is a lot of morphs with that product so i need to mess around and work out what does what.October 24, 2019 at 5:02 PM #1299050Hey pixels, Good point about the deform tool.
That deform tool seems pretty good but is still a bit of a mystery to me. I have only just started to mess with it after seeing a youtube video where the guy was doing stuff with it. It isa bit clumsy to use but I been practicing making stuff from primitive plans.
Its true about leaning towards the add on tools. I do it as well.
There is a lot of inbuilt stuff that i am yet to discover. -
