So I decided to visit the Poser section of Rendo today and was greeted by waves of awfulness. I expected to see some decent stuff coming out for LaFem since its been out for a bit now.
This is not the case. I saw V3 quality stuff coming out for this new flagship. Ive got better looking V4 stuff I deleted to make room on my HD.
How does Poser not fold up and die yet?
Yeah, the whole thing is an embarrassment. Even OOT's stuff for La Femme feels extremely phoned in compared to everything else they've put out. Pretty sad they can't rope some of the big name high quality content creators and instead are stuck with the mediocre Rendo Regulars to make stuff.
But frankly, Poser has a lot of problems that need to be fixed, and La Femme is basically sticking a bandaid over a gaping flesh wound with necrotic tissue. New figures aren't going to "save" Poser, no matter how hard SM and Rendo try to convince you otherwise.
If that is Posers flagship i think i'd jump overboard and take my chances with the sharks lol her and 99% of the stuff made for her is sub-par imo
The quality of stuff @ Rendo has really gone downhill recently, nothing but textures for something else. They have a couple of decent Daz quality vendors, Sangriart, Angel_Wings, Phoenix1966, who haven't produced anything for a while, perhaps they are trying to get rid of them, especially after the fiasco with Sangriart's Emmeline...
i.TBH any store gets peaks & troughs. Granted though 'Rosity does seem to have been in the doldrums for quite a while.
There are actually quite a few other merchants of decent quality there ( eg Brahann), but their output is flooded out by the so so texture products at the moment.:0/
Yeah Rosity does have some really good artist, or at least did. Some of the V4 stuff is still amazing. They just dont kick out enough of it. When I look at the Daz store I usually cant say "that sux" Its usually "thats ok" . When I see a Good Daz product come out, its usually not good its fricking GREAT. When I see a good Rendo product I say " Its about time" and its usually just good and nothing special. I do not see anything in Rendos store that can compete on an equal level with Daz's top artists products.
@littlepleasures Yup. For quite a few of the big name content creators, particularly at the Daz3D store, they make enough for it to be their sole job and primary source of income. I don't blame them for not wanting to invest the time and energy towards a product that has made a mediocre splash and will not yield high returns. It's why nearly every creator that made stuff for Dawn at the outset hasn't gone back to her in years. I doubt we'll ever see Arki, Aeon Soul, Esha, SickleYield, RawArt, et al make products for LaFemme any time soon.
And since we're on the tangent, the quality of products at Rendo are dogshit these days, to put it in the bluntest of terms. If it's not super low quality product that looks like it was stuck in the early oughts, it's textures upon textures. There's a few artists there that do stand out, but most of it is repetitive garbage with little to no quality control. LaFemme is, yet again, a bandage on a gaping wound for Rendo. And it's likely going to get worse before it gets better for them -if at all-, since Daz has stated recently that there's no plans for a Genesis 9 in the foreseeable future and that they're focusing on the software dev side of things rather than figures now. (Thank goodness) So that means Genesis 8 is here to stay and DS will likely far surpass Poser in technical abilities *if* they focus on refining dForce and working on other things that need fine tuning/overhauls.
I still predict it'll turn out like Dawn: forgotten by the masses in 2-3 years, with only a handful of holdouts still making product for her on Rendo.
