Astro Boy V2, Fanmade 3D Model, Blender v5.1.0+
An entirely new, fan-made model of the iconic Tetsuwan Atom, better known as "Astro Boy" in English-speaking locales.
(WARNING! You'll need a decent computer to handle this model.)
This model is meant to be a successor to the original Atom model I put up for sale a few years ago. He has most of the same gimmicks as the old one, such as the leg rockets, arm cannons, rear guns, and chest compartment. This time around, however, he has a rounder, more traditional design inspired by the original manga illustrations, and his new rig was created with Rigify, making him much more dynamic and animation-friendly. His hair rig and facial rig have been heavily overhauled, with his cowlicks (the two horn thingies) now able to be moved individually, his eyelids now having both weighted and shapekey-driven controls, and his teeth now having a bendy rig to add more plasticity to his expressions when needed. He also has a much lighter topology than the old model, with fewer polygons, allowing for cleaner deformations. He has three alternate outfits: a casual outfit, a 2003-inspired travel outfit, and a school uniform. There are also toggles for the boots and shorts for those who wanna render scenes of his creation or want to try making alternate outfits of their own.
A big thanks to my friend Bellspiel for the model sheet made for this rig! They played a major role in pushing the model's design to its current direction.
KNOWN GLITCHES
The rig of the retractable arm cannons causes the inverse kinematics of his left arm to stop working if there is no action linked to the armature. How or why it only affects his left arm is completely unknown to me, and the original model had this issue too. The IK will function normally if you register a keyframe or link an empty action to the armature, but AFAIK, there is no way to completely remove this problem without deleting the cannon rig. The .blend file should have an empty action linked to his armature by default, so his left arm works properly from the get-go.
TERMS OF USE
Credit me when you use this character model. I made the model, so credit is not only mandatory, but appreciated. Also give credit to Osamu Tezuka for creating the source material that inspired this model's creation.
This model is SFW only, so DO NOT USE HIM FOR R34 OR SEXUALLY SUGGESTIVE CONTENT. He's just a boy, goddammit.
Do not redistribute this model, especially in it's original state and file format! If you wish to make a port of this model for other 3D software, please ask me first!
This model is not meant for commercial use!
