Nuke — VFX & Film Editing Software | Foundry
Foundry released Nuke 16.0, the latest major update to its compositing software suite, in February 2025.
This release introduces a foundational shift towards native multishot compositing, moving away from Nuke's traditional single-shot workflow.
At the core of this change are Graph Scope Variables (GSVs), which allow artists to define data for multiple contexts within a single script, enabling the reuse of scripts across multiple shots and sequences without duplication.
Key tools supporting this workflow include the VariableGroup node for defining variables, the VariableSwitch node for switching between shots or scopes, and a new Variables Panel for interacting with variables.
The Group Node's internal view now allows editing within the Node Graph, eliminating the need to switch tabs, and LiveGroups now support GSVs for collaborative work across different shots
