@ethiopia Every time you reply to this thread is to throw hate at someone or to a group of people, could you chill out? what are you, 5yo? Not all sharers are butthurt like you are because some people are downloading their stuff and not even saying "thanks". This is how communities work, it's how internet in general works, we all give something to the pool without much expectations of receiving back from who we shared with, and maybe, just maybe few of who have received something decide later on to return something back.

Digital media is not a finite resource, 1 person downloading something you uploaded is exactly the same as if 1000 people did, or even 1.000.000, the final cost for you is exactly the same, and it's much better overall ROI for everybody if as many people as possible receive the things everybody is sharing because the probability of more people giving something back(one way or another) is much higher than if we all gatekeep some "computer bytes" to only whom shares back. Forcing people to share ALWAYS results in less people sharing overall, and sharing without strings attached always incentives reciprocity, it's human nature, the effectiveness of guilt is MUCH greater and longer lasting than that of fear or pain.

And by the way, you never know if you downloaded something from someone who is a complete leech here, but is a great sharer on another web site; maybe it was an ebook, or a tutorial, a movie, a song, a torrent that otherwise would be dead... yes, there is plenty of complete leechers on the internet that never shared shit in their life, but you can't just have a mental break down every time you cross paths with such a person, what a miserable life is that where you stress about a problem that is unfixable.

I acknowledge my first post explaining the problem was lengthy, so i will try to summarize it.

Your gained points are coming from PEOPLE, not from POSTING comissions, previously new points were MINTED by daily logins by users, so new points were created every day, and those were distributed from USERS(claiming those dailys and other contributors) to CONTRIBUTORS.

So, if no more new points are created/added to the economy and additionally are constantly burned by various systems, the points in the economy WILL DECLINE, posting dead links will bear almost no reward if at all, because users will not give their precious points to some repost(and it was already difficult to get them that way previously anyway).

    1) Donations (points minted) <- ONLY WAY OF CREATING POINTS
    2) Requests (Points distributed + Points burned)
    3) Blog posts (Points distributed + Points burned)

To sum it up: Only way of really getting points now is donations...

    1) That's because previously points were not a chore to obtain, with the changes is going to be different, scarcity will hit, and most contributions will be between average to big contributors, if that happens what would be the difference between this and a completely private sharing community?

    2) Thanks, i forgot about that one.

    3) You are right, it will not die literally(maybe, if donations keep the current peace, server costs and that), but the activity will be so low that it might as well be considered a "private archive".

    4) You are right here too, nobody owes anybody anything, all sharing is voluntary and because of the heart of who shares, if nobody shared there would be no piracy, but if nobody downloaded it, there would not be any reason to share either.

    5) Happy to make you laugh jeje

@maddy @anna1945 @frank22 you all seem too eager to throw out all the people that you consider "leachers that do not contribute anything to the site", but fail to remember WHERE your "so beloved" points come from, you should get used to receive only a minuscule fraction of what you get currently. I don't blame you for not foreseeing how this can affects you because i assume you have personal biases based on bad experiences in the site and now with this changes you feel vindicated, but please sit down and think deeply about those changes, you will find out it's not so pretty as it looks.

I saw a user on a previous post saying this site has like 70k users, i will make some assumptions with common statistics numbers of human behavior as i don't have access to sites' internal data, but i would bet only less than 10% of users have contributed at least once in their entire account's existence, probably only one third or less of those users have posted new stuff(not a reupload), and i'm pretty sure only less than 1%(probably more like 0.1% IMHO) is a regular contributor.

So if 90% that never contributed anything leave the site because they can't download anything anymore, that would leave us with less than 7k POSSIBLE active users, add that there is no influx of easy new points every day anymore and the remaining expire over time(which will result in a continuous decrease of total available points globally), now add the 50% tax to the posts to the mix(even more rapid decrease of total available points) and that at any given day only a fraction of those users will visit the site and we will have a dead site soon enough.

And remember, there is plenty of people that don't contribute products but are active in the forums, i'm sure everybody likes forums where no questions are answered nor conversations are developed.

Pitchforks are easy to rise and solutions are difficult to come by, so i don't blame anybody, but we all should remember that: "If something works, don't touch it."

This changes are like a slap to the face to everybody, mainly the free users that depend on the daily points to be able to download stuff, because the people that leech to re-sell the items on other sites have a MONETARY INCENTIVE, so even if you make it more difficult for them, they will find a way, because it's their business, meanwhile all common folks are getting screwed.
