I don't know if you're having the same issue as I did, but whenever I fitted most strand hairs to G8 it would end up wispy in the way you described, like many of the strands were eliminated. I don't know why this works, maybe something with the autofit system - just part of the black-box that Daz seems to be.

I just use a sphere primitive - it doesn't really matter as long as you don't use autofit, disable parent in place for the process, and scale the prop not the hair.

The solution I came up with to that issue is to parent any prop, i.e. a sphere, to the head of your character, hide it, then load your strand hair without anything selected in the scene to avoid auto-fitting. Parent your hair to the prop (with parent in place turned off), then move and scale the prop to fit the hair to the skull. This is easiest if the hair has a separate skullcap, like FeSoul's hairs, so you can hide the strands while you adjust the fit. This will eliminate the wispiness, keep all the morphs intact, and you can add additional hairs by just adding them to the scene and parenting to the already adjusted prop. This also works for using G9 hairs on G8 (my primary reason for working this out) but you'll have to use a separate prop from native G8 hairs as they fit slightly differently.

But there's no comparison in the appearance of strand hairs - I've largely abandoned legacy hairs now that I have this workaround

What items are you looking for? I still have a lot of my V4 stuff, but it would be helpful if you could provide names and product codes if possible, since most of what I have is scattered amongst several hard drives
