Sorry if it's been covered and resolved already - just point me to the thread.
I recently picked up an item that including an image saying "shared at ZoneGfx"
Just wondering if it might be an idea to include something in shares here that will likely be ripped off by other share sites later.
In my experience the guys that do this just share the original file and don't even check it.
Good idea, bad or not even allowed?
The sites that re-post our stuff usually repackage them to make it less obvious. I've tagged some of my uploads simply to track where they end up. And yes, we are the source for nearly everything Daz-related out in the wild.
Adding a "ZoneGfx" image or reference is not a bad idea. The benefit would be to get more members. The downside would be that we'd be even more of a target than we already are.
Yeah it's kind of a double edged sword.
Adding it shows where it originated and might bring more traffic here, but those who want to shut down pirate sites might take more notice too.
If I actually post new content here I'll add a little link file of some sort, but mostly I repost dead links anyway.
@Wallyburger I think most of the sharing sites are hosted in countries beyond the reach of those who want to shut them down... in Russia, Ukraine, Eastern Europe etc. A lot of them have been up for many years without a problem. Given the current political climate, eg. I don't see Russia obeying a take down request sent from the USA.
"You can say the sin, not the sinner..."
After this "amoral" sentence, I think it is convenient not to make crude propaganda.
This is not Instagram or Youtube...
