I'm getting back into Daz. Going through tutorials and all that. I'm going to stick to one version of Genesis at a time until I get the hang of things. While I've built a decent starting base, this new batch of stuff sure is shiny.
How do you like working with G8? Does it mesh well with previous versions? Are there issues? I'm curious.
March 16, 2018 at 7:47 PM #534614I love G8. I like how the muscles seem to flex when you bend limbs, and with the Power Pose tool, you can get almost any expression you need with an easy to understand guide at the bottom.
I haven't had any issues with Auto-Fitting G3 clothing to G8, although I do try to find the clothing I want in a G8 compatible product because I don't like being bothered with the Auto-Fit dialog box, especially when it's a full outfit with lots of parts.
The only thing I don't like about G8 is waiting for the content creators of morphs that I depended on for G3 to convert their products to G8.
March 16, 2018 at 7:54 PM #534622Another vote for G8 from me too.
Nice and easy to pose & get nice results from.My main beef is that they have done away with the ankle bone in the G8 rigging, which has made fitting legacy footwear a bear.
I'm hoping some crafty vendor will come up with a script to fix that issue. If that would currently be a deal breaker for you, G3F is nearly as good in all respects, but you have a better chance of auto-fit working with legacy footwear.
🙂
March 16, 2018 at 7:56 PM #534626I haven't tried using the pose converters yet, but the G3 poses can have some really weird results when used on G8, especially with the arm positions. Other than that, I find the G8 are really a step up from G3.
March 16, 2018 at 8:02 PM #534636I didn't really work much with G8, still in love with G3, but I have to agree that expressions are really nice and natural, way better than G3.

I love the G8s. The pose converter for G3-G8 works well enough, especially with the pose fix scripts that help the arm issues others have had. That said, only native G3 poses seem to work. I can get poses converted to work well enough from G2-G3 but trying to convert them further up the line to G8 only seems to result in scary ass poses that are nothing like what you're seeking.
March 16, 2018 at 8:48 PM #534679The script on deviant art works great but ive found a few that needed a little fixing. But its free and works for the most part. You can make G8 any G3 figure and share any G3 morph. Ive tried it on G1+2 with freaky but sometimes useful results.
March 16, 2018 at 9:11 PM #534696On that end, does anyone know of a good script to transfer G3 morphs to G8? The supposedly good one on the Daz forums vanished, and doing it via SickleYield's tutorial results in Junji Ito like monstrosities.
Preferably one that works for both female and males, and also Mac users too.
March 17, 2018 at 12:54 AM #534933I have had zero success going from G3 to G8 with or without the darkhound script. :0/
March 17, 2018 at 3:26 AM #535052Have you seen this video on youtube yet?
It's rather interesting how he manipulates the scripts just by dragging and dropping them to his genesis 8 character.
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jA56g8VVZEU)March 17, 2018 at 6:14 AM #535136No scripts needed. Ive gotten this to work almost every time. A few other people said they had problem but i have no idea why.
I bulk tranfered a ton of G3 morphs and characters to G8.
I posted this someplace here not to long ago showing a complex G3 alien morph on G8.

Ive yet to see it work correctly on G1 +2 so if you figure it out, PM me. Ive given up on trying to get V4 on G8.
