Respectfully, when searching Dead-Post and finding something to contribute, after double-check-searching (suggested), often the Dead are not Dead - they come up in search as being Reposted, and a bunch of the time not even recently. The Repost shows alongside the Dead-Post version in the relevant non-Dead-Post folder, once in a while in triplicate. Why is this?

(Asking honestly. I don't know the answer and would like to know.)

Are they just not moved/removed from Dead-Post yet?
Is it ok to ignore these, as such? Or are they actually dead and the other search results are also not live/current?
Or is it down to title naming or something, and therefore duplicates?

    Please advise, thanks

    @spats

Good point, but unfortunately there are currently 5,549 in the "Dead Post" section, some with the correct names and some with NOT the correct names.

This is my take on things,
The ORIGINAL post, that has become a DEAD POST, should be edited with a new link and change the AUTHORS name, to the person that has provided the new link. A note in the body text saying it is a NEW LINK, NOT the Title. This should help reduce confusion.

The DEAD POST section does need a good clean out, but it is just too big of a task for anyone to attempt.

    Gotcha. Ok. Makes sense.

Yeah, it is pretty huge. I can only imagine the undertaking.

Willing to do what it takes to help. Not sure what that would be. Maybe a specific "REPOST" formatted Add would help? With specific title or callout(s) to note the difference? Just a thought. ( @sonytony your ideas seem like good ones.) Some kind of formatting or standard, anyway, to help out the moderators - if it actually would or could.
I have a running list of tabs that are duplicates (to help me remember to not up them, in case). It's not comprehensive, only things I could contribute but haven't because, yeah, hard to tell if they're actually Dead/Undead. (Just realizing how close to Halloween in this discussion, haha.)

Anyway, if any other proposals or ideas in how to properly post REPOSTS, willing to learn/follow for the betterment - and/or at least not make it worse.
Maybe a sticky. (I've learned a lot from those, btw.)

Normally reposts would have a "Re Upload" or a "REPOST" or "Reupload" text added to the title based on the preference of the re poster.. and sometimes a dead post does not get removed because the mods are overworked and they miss out on it..
If.. when searching, you find multiple posts with one being a dead post, then that just means the mods missed out on removing the dead post after the product was reuploaded/reposted.. you can send a message to the mods to remove it.. ( doesn't mean you have to go searching for it 🙂 )

Like say, I've got a running short-list of similar. With easy copy/paste tab tool output if mods needed (incl original Dead and newly uploaded, regardless of naming) if it helped with speed.

Admittedly, one of my own recent re-ups was incorrectly incomplete of the REPOST title. (Is there a way to edit that as the post-er, btw? Or is that - likely - a mods only action?) So I feel bad and wish I'd paid more attention. Trying to just not contribute to the problem going forward.

I've settled on [REPOST] , personally. It seems to be the more outstanding and noticeable of styles. But I'd be willing to change to whatever standard is settled on for site consistency.

Changing the posts is a mods only privilege.. not for us commoners 🙂 .. and we all forget to add the tag sometimes..

.. and there is no actual consistency on the repost tags.. I personally use (Re Upload)..
