Yeh they were great Charley and I grew up with them in my early high school years. No pitch correction or auto-tune back in those days. Another one of my favourites was Budgie, Welsh lads.
@frank22. They were way before my time, but I love that era for music. Marc Bolan's anniversary falls on my birthday, so I always spare a thought for him. Dandy in the Underworld is one of my favourite albums.
There was something magical about the glam rock era. Except for Gary Glitter - fuck him!
You'd be mistaken to believe Glitter was only one of a few. It was pretty much endemic in the entertainment industry in the 70s.... Savile, Harris etc. Everyone knew but nobody said anything, except John Lydon, and the BBC banned Lydon for saying so.
@frank22 Yeah, and I imagine it's still going on, but maybe not on the same scale. I always thought Savile was dodgy, but I used to like Rolf Harris when I was a child; I think most people were pretty shocked when the truth came out about him.
Yeah, Johnny Rotten was a voice in the wilderness regarding Savile, back then. If only more had been as brave. Instead, he was branded a drug addled lunatic, who was just shit stirring for controversy sake.
@frank22 - Budgie was awesome, but I'm partial to Gentle Giant. 🙂
Yes T. Rex was awesome, so many bands of that era were... 10 Years After, Atomic Rooster, Hot Tuna, all on my faves list.
