Hi everyone,
I'm wondering what is the minimal "reasonable" PC configuration to animate DAZ scenes in DAZ? Under "scenes" I mean for example room with two animated characters in it.
I'm with limited finances and can't afford to make PC upgrade only to find out it's not enough.
So what would be recommended for CPU, RAM and NVIDIA GPU?
Thanks in advance.You could buy a used HP or Dell workstation that'll knock the sock off the latest hardware for a fraction of the price. CPU = 8 cores minimum.. Ram = 32GB minimum. GPU = RTX 3060 12GB are hot and cheap at present. 3060 cards are so hot Nvidia decided to start making them again because they sold all top end hardware to the data centeres.
Up here, my computer guy has 5090's at *cough cough, hack*....

...just after NFTs collapsed I grabbed a 12Gb 3060 (EVGA too!) card for 600 smackers (that's beaver bucks). They're still costing the same.
It's not much, but it replaced an ancient 2GB 1070 (or something) card and made a HUGE, gargantuan, really big difference.Stick with DDR4. DDR5 won't make animation faster, neither will an RTX 5090.
5090s are way too overpriced and overuseless IMHO. Like Ethiopia above said.. Last year I bought a 12GB 4070, then discovered I had a 12GB 3060 stashed and forgotten. Placed them both in a new I7, 64GB DDR5, SSDs, etc.
Besides the night/day difference in rendering, I should've stuck it out with my 7yr old AMD CPU and Motherboard. Hardware prices have gone through the roof. March last year 64GB RAM cost AU$250. Same RAM exactly a year later AU$900.. Expensive exercise.

PS. Besides everything the 50XX cards require the new DAZ3D software and what I learned with DAZ3D software is they need a lot of updates to reduce the number of bugs to an acceptable level.@Marreske
Yep. Sorry I went on a rampage there. Victim of my own silliness at times.
I build PCs for a living, If you can afford the 64GB of RAM go with those.
CPU, personally and from experience I'd go with an AMD, they perform much better.
Motherboard, Gigabyte, MSI. Had more than a few Asus going kaputt or DOA.
RAM is only dictated by what the motherboard takes in terms of DDR4 or 5..
Graphics, I found that the 3060 is just too good to pass on. If your funds allow, get 2 cards.
SSDs, I have 2x2TB NVMes one for the OS, the other one for DAZ scenes and renders. A 4TB spinner (The old clanky thing) for storage.
I have installed extra 120mm fans and a Thermaltake 120mm fan for the CPU.
