Just wondering what happened to all my saved links to those celebrity series characters that don't look like real celebrities unless you do much post work. All my saved links say someone cried about copyright violation; Kind of hard when same site posts stuff for free, itself. Those characters don't look anything like the celebrities they are supposed to resemble. I dunno. probably why the artist doesn't put actual name; doesn't want the celebrity to sue him for defamation of character.

June 2, 2018 at 1:36 AM #626018Yeah, I had one of those hosted on Google Drive. I took it down when he emailed me, but he still kept fussing at me about it. Seemed a bit hypocritical from someone who's trying to profit off of celebrity likenesses without permission.
Eh, no big loss. Most of his characters have a very harsh/unnatural look, which is why I only ever bothered with that one. Hell, for all the tweaking that's required to make them look better, you might as well just make one of your own in FaceGen Pro.

June 2, 2018 at 2:16 PM #626619Or..... And I'm only spit-balling here.... His sales dipped because people were able to see that his models were really janky without paying for them first?
June 2, 2018 at 2:54 PM #626660i did used the megan fox look alike, and i mean, there was some of her in it, but when actually using expressions on her, stuff didn't quite work out too well, making her look actually really weird and not megan fox like at all.

June 3, 2018 at 4:58 AM #627314As is common with most Celebrity likeness morphs, default expressions or expression packs not built for the morph will typically distort the morph to where it loses all resemblance of the intended likeness. This is why FoRender tends to include a dozen or so expression morphs specifically built for each of their Celebrity morphs.

June 3, 2018 at 4:03 PM #627960Just a little note to the MDC creator. The controversy seems to strengthen people's resolve to post. It's rare I can come to Zone and not see those "likeness" splashed across the home screen in the new post section.
June 4, 2018 at 11:29 AM #628943His celebrity morphs are and always will be absolute garbage, because trying to replicate actual people will never be 100% perfect.
Humans are able to pick up subtleties in real life faces, which is why using digital recreations of actual people in movies will always look cartoonish to the majority of people. Not to mention celebrities have their faces plastered all over the place, so of course people are going to tell when something looks 'off', especially when said celebrities all have unique ways of making expressions.
A good example of this is the Reby Sky figures (for V4 and Genesis) that Daz put out: note how they don't show any (extreme) expressions in the promo images at all, and how the Reby figure has the same ':|' face in all of them.
But note that since Reby Sky, Daz hasn't even attempted to put out any "official" celebrity likeness morphs. And, no, the G3M figure blatantly based off of Norman Reedus doesn't count.
Like someone else said, if you're that desperate to create digital likenesses of people, you're better off investing in FaceGen and acknowledging that you're never going to be completely 1:1 in terms of likenesses, since it goes past the surface level.
