Are we getting a site sponsored contest this month?
May 4, 2019 at 8:43 AM #1066188I was curious what the next contest would be myself.
May 4, 2019 at 9:18 AM #1066241I recently hosed my Runtime folder (remember kids always click 'merge', never 'replace') so I have spent nearly two weeks rebuilding my library and even though it's a pale shadow of it's former glory, I am ready!
In all seriousness though a contest would be great, it's these that push me to progress the most!
May 4, 2019 at 11:56 PM #1067076I agree with Drayu. Though currently I have my own projects going which is pushing my boundaries, contests let me enjoy the pleasure of doing, without having to come up with the idea. LOL
May 10, 2019 at 4:49 AM #1073351Seems like the no answer, answers my question.
May 13, 2019 at 12:07 AM #1076807@d0gg0d ... yeah. I'm not site sponsored but I'll sponsor the site contest.
May 13, 2019 at 7:46 AM #1077241Was just telling another member how I thought the site was more Mod friendly when contests were sponsored. Mods now just show up, do a bit of maintenance and disappear.
I considered running an April Fools contest where people would render a person doing something foolish. Like a Dog peeing on a Thunder Cats leg or just a jester doing a trick ect... but after not seeing a Valentine contest I decided Fkit.
The site header contest took forever. I thought the old pics would be up till July. MHW Iceborne will come out soon, I still need to finish Red Dead 2 and the weather is getting nice again so I can shoot at the range. Ive got 3 weeks vacation to try and use up. So I can find something to keep me busy for a good while. I would like to fit a few contests in there but I dont think its fair to leave them all up to the members. Tomsk came back and seemed interested in rebooting the community but, that fizzled. So Im slowly losing interest and doing other stuff. I guess that may be for the better. My hobbies come and go so I'll always be around. I just picked my camera back up after a year of it collecting dust.
May 13, 2019 at 1:35 PM #1077536Uh, you do know a contest has started right?
Battle Royale!!May 13, 2019 at 2:25 PM #1077602yup, and its not hosted by the site.
There are a couple reasons why i probably wont be in this one.
However almost every contest for a long while has been user supported.May 14, 2019 at 8:26 PM #1079208May 14, 2019 at 8:32 PM #1079210To me a contest is a contest... The way I see it, every time I'm creating something I'm getting better at what I do. The contest win or lose should be there to make everyone better. What difference does it makes who is hosting it?
May 15, 2019 at 3:11 AM #1079545At least the users give a $%#& about keeping the community happy. I've hosted a few BTW and donated to a few as well. At some point and time you ask the guy that keeps borrowing your car to fill up the $&%&in tank. Does it really matter who borrows your car so long as they return it? Whats a couple of miles every so often really matter in the long run? Not like they add up to a significant amount.
IMHO what matters is that at one time they ran contests and now they dont. Why dont they? Were we bad boys and girls or have they just decided it isnt worth their time any more? It is kinda a hassle. Not like the community matters since everything here is re-posted in seconds. In some cases before it even goes live.
Some kind super-bot skimming the code I guess. Ah well, its meant to be shared right? Maybe Im just tainted and looking a gift horse in the mouth. Should be grateful to have a place to DL free stuff. Im donating half of my points to the contest ATM mine are at 20k so I'll be donating 10K and challenge the community to match that.I guess overall the answer to your question is no. No it doesnt matter. In another 30-40 years if nothing unexpected happens Ill die of old age and no-one in my family other than my grand kids will probably be around. Their children will have barely known me if at all and once they grow up will barely remember who I was. The world will keep spinning and nothing we have done here will have effected the world in any significant way. Thousand years from now, if somehow humanity survives the zombie apocalypse they will tell stories of how people communicated with magic devices they held in their hands and how giant metal birds use to fly over the sky.

Hey guys!
In the past these competitions were generally organized by myself, and over the last few months real life had to take priority over my online presence. Though things settled down after a while, I must admit that I got a little lazy regarding these cometitions.
I hope to start the competitions again with a new site sponsored Art Competition.
I hope you find the time to join in!
On behalf of your admin team, Tomsk.
