    Hello folks,

just a small message of warning to let peoples know about it.

I, not too long ago, downloaded "Hot metal shaders" (sku 48821) that is shared here:

    Hot Metal Shaders

and have discovered that the core files of this shared product has been tempered with from it's original state created by it's creator. (proof here)

Clealy, some "wise guy" though he/she was doing this for the greater good by "tagging" the website's name in one of the shaders's icon folder. (more like defacing the icon's picture in my opinion.)

I can tolerate and sometime accept that some shared add some text file or logo of the website in addition of the product's file they share in it's root folder. Since they are only harmless file added outside of the main product file folder tree, users can accept or not to keep them and mostly, the "message" the sharer want to pass is made. (which is tagging where this product has been shared first.)

BUT.....what i cannot accept, are sharer tinkering with the integrity of some of the files inside a product that utimately, isn't their own.

I'm assuming that when peoples are comming here to find and dowload some assets, they have the inherent trust that they will get/receive the asset/product just like it was originaly made by it's creator. Why ? Because if peoples start tinkering with asset's file of product, i believe peoples will start to lose trust and faith in what it is shared here on this website. Because we don't know if the tempering is malevolent or not. (It is usualy not. Most of the time it is armless, but it has happen in the past that some insidious persons tried to hide trojan and virus in some assets)

Also, just for the records, it can be very....incoveniant....to some peoples to display on their daz folder panel on their computer screen an icon of an asset that is coming from a pirate site. I really don't think also this website is interested in this kind of "publicity".

Anyway, i'll be removing now this asset from my computer just to not take any chance.Since i don't know what other files could have been tempered with and if it isn't hiding any malicious intent. (too bad, i really though that shader was pretty cool.)

"incoveniant….to some peoples to display on their daz folder panel on their computer screen" - that's only asking for trouble if one was stupid enough to post that image in the Daz forum, but that's the price a pirate pays.... eternal vigilance with a dab of guilt.
To quote a film I love-
You see, a [pirate's] whole safety
depends on a complication of lies.
That he had no motive, no access.
    That his alibi is perfect.
Even if he feels no remorse.
Think of the strain he endures knowing
that one error would be his undoing.
That if he is forgetful enough to
    contradict one of his statements.
If his act of innocence is
    unconvincing in any detail.
If he so much as talks in his sleep.....

Personally, I like it that way. Life without taking risks isn't worth living.
