Two newbie doubts about sharing rules

[Deborah]

Don't get me wrong and I don't want to sound harsh/greedy, but I didn't get two things about the site and can't find an answer.

1. Are there limitations for new users, like visibility of "public" download links? I can't see any, only the "you must be a member" message with a big red button to register, even if I'm logged. Are these downloads paid in points, like requests?

2. In the request forum, people say "I'll add X points, but PM me". So, will the sharer get the points in private requests or the total sum of points to make the file "public"? If it's the former, I don't see why people would share a thing publicly if they can earn lots of points again and again (every time someone asks for that particular file) just with private requests.

Thank you.

Hi Deborah. For number 1. when logged in just click the red register button and select a membership and you're good to go. All public shared items in the blog will show available to download for 50 points each.

For 2. The request starts off with people offering points for someone to share the item, asking for a PM is done to be informed that the item is being shared. The sharer sends a download link in the pm, and the people that offered points then transfers the points to the sharer, the site rules state that such filled requests should be made publicly available to everyone on the blog within ideally a week.

Ah okay, that makes sense or the site would be just a private sharing place, I imagine 🙂 Thank you for the answer.

Note that many people also share in the blogs directly even without bounty incentives.
