I hate toons in all of their glory. Toon characters, toon enviornments, etc.

That's all... Does anyone else feel the same? BTW; I feel the same about chibis, anime characters, Funko Pops and anything similar. I really don't get the appeal... But am prepared for the hate. lol

I dislike all the steampunk stuff but don't really hate it. Well not enough to start a thread about it.

There are certain kinds I really love and others I really hate, and others I think are meh. It's all over the place for me. I think it really comes down to whether or not there's solid, informed artistic direction behind the effort, or if it looks generic/derivative or sloppily slapped together.

Steampunk theme looks "sloppily slapped together" to me. Like it can't decide in which century it belongs. No problem with sci-fi/technology or 19th-century industrial but putting them together is discordant IMO.

After many many MANY interactions with Haseltoons, I'm convinced that it's a poorly coded chatbot implemented by Sheldon Cooper.
Don't get me started.

I believe he's one of the chief reasons nobody but a very few self-helped troopers have actually ever made any truly useful addons for DAZ. It's clear he NEVER reads your post and only gives condescending pat answers that reddit could give for less trouble.
NEVER point out a serious bug and ask for workaround help...

But on-topic, I'm not a big fan of toony stuff OR slapdash steampunk. If you just watch V For Vendetta, and Boxtrolls, and actually pay attention to the details, you have the entire true design ethic down. 99% of "steampunk" in the store looks like the PA asked Google.

I didnt either till I watched Arcane. Im still not big on Steampunk and only mildly interested in messing with toon shaders BUT Arcane is absolutely worth watching. Season 2 not so much.

I didnt think Id like Avatar Last Air Bender till I watched it. One of the best series Ive seen.

A live action Lion King just cant compare to the animated one.

I love the whole toon genre, but it's 100% not for everyone. Even within the toon genre itself, there are some who hate Manga but love Western toons, and vice-versa.

It's something that has evolved over time - Manga (Josei, Seinen, Kodomo) has a ton of stylistic differences within itself, as have Western toons (Disney/Pixar, Looney Toons, Hanna-Barbera, Aeon Flux/Heavy Metal, Marvel/DC, etc.) People will pick and choose what aesthetics they like and what they don't.

I love ultra-realism art as well, especially in CG and if it encompasses a different time period or plane of existence (probably because I'm not the greatest at making any of it.)
