I've recently faced a catastrophic crash on Poser... not the first time this has happened, especially with a runtime that's almost 1 terabyte in size.
However, this time, running the usual process of backing up the runtime, uninstalling Poser, cleaning leftovers away, re-installing, and adding the runtime back into Poser, ended with some horrid instability.
While I'm still on the process of fixing things, it was an opportunity to get more involved with Daz Studio, and mess about with Genesis 3 assets I have.
And, that brings me to my title request of sorts...
I need your expertise, in terms of Iray render settings, because, honestly, I'm at a loss trying to finetune the engine for the proper balance of speed and quality.
Any tips and suggestion will be more than welcomed.
Thank you all in advance.March 28, 2018 at 12:46 PM #548826Do you have a good rig? Here are the things i use a mostly.
Some of the immediate things i do for each scene, turn convergence ratio up to 100%, max samples up to 15000, max seconds up to 259200, or anything greater then the standards. Try with and with out rendering quality enable.Spectral rendering gives a little better light bounce i think. Only just started going for ultra realistic looks, but that does help with good bounces. Camera settings as well to control overall lighting and F-stop.
Fun stuff to play with is the built in lighting, Dome, Dome Scene, Sky-Only, Scene Only. And turning on and off the rendering camera head lamps.
Backdrops can be done in environment tab.
March 28, 2018 at 3:35 PM #549006hi I have big problem in men clothing in my scene because their clothing are designed sexless and this makes my scene less realistic. What can I do
March 28, 2018 at 4:22 PM #549071ana, there was this tutorial about this part specifically... the site that hosts it changed servers and strcture, and it didn't pass along the migrating process, but it had to do with using a primitive, parent it to the figure's hip, move it to extend at the crotch, like a bulge shape, and work with smoothing modifiers, to force the pants to grow around and cover the sphere. I can't find the tutorial any more, but I've contacted the original maker of it, if he has a copy to share, I'll post it here.
March 29, 2018 at 9:41 AM #549910Thank you all for suggestions and tips... I will admit, Iray rendering is far less volatile than Poser's firefly... and, though I really wanted to, I can't stand superfy, but, since I managed to fix the Poser instability problems after re-installing, I'll need to research on a proper render rig. Which brings another question of sorts, on a new thread
