I skipped through it quickly and it's definitely interesting to see him fudge the water movement effect with spheres and a dynamic plane. I'm sure there must be other ways to make ripples better and emulate water movement with dforce but I'm clueless.
The hair video was more what I've been thinking of using dforce for and I've been more excited about than the clothes. 😛
Does he record his audio in his shower though? Or maybe in a bucket?
January 10, 2018 at 5:19 AM #454757I made it through 3/4 of the hair video.
Mostly interested in the way people find ways to use things they arent suppose to be used for. Makes me wonder what else Dforce cant be used for.

Dforce applied to Characters is fun.
January 10, 2018 at 7:00 AM #454824Honestly if you're pirating anyway I'd use pretty much anything other than dforce for pretty much anything physics based you want to do. For example, if you just want to drape stuff over stuff you could use marvelous designer...
Though for anything even vaguely complicated i'd recommend using something like 3dsMAX and just learn how the physics setup works, it's really not much different to how it works in DAZ.... they're really all pretty much the same... choose what will be affected by physics, choose what things will be solid but part of the simulation, choose what gravity and wind are doing, wait 3 weeks for the simulation to solve 😀
The amount of time you'll save learning to use something where the physics simulation is more robust (and actually has a pre-flight that might tell you when something is likely to fail) will probably still do you better than setting up dforce, having it fail after 20 minutes, making a change, having it fail after 25 minutes... etc.
January 10, 2018 at 9:19 PM #455544Yeah just by looking at my other post, it shows what 3d can do. I use to pull stuff out and mess with things in rhino and a few other "free" programs. Id really like to see one program do most everything. Since this is mostly a hobby / downtime thing to keep me busy, Im not really looking to make movie quality images. Though it would be nice, I know I dont have the hardware, knowledge or time. Ive seen what people with skill are actually capable of and Im not deceiving myself to think I could attain that level. Simple things for simple people. Why I like Daz. A lot of work is already done.
January 10, 2018 at 11:32 PM #455645Yup DAZ is great for what it does... and the iRay renderer is pretty decent.
There are thing I just won't bother doing in DAZ because they're easier, or less prone to ending in a time wasting mess, in other software. Physics is a big one of those 😀
Something I am still almost in awe of having come back to 3d a couple years ago after a pretty solid 10+ year absence is how far the industry has come in compatibility... multiple file formats that almost all software can read ? direct software bridges between apps from different companies ? It's a whole different world of being able to bounce from one app to another with minimal fuss. Long live our .FBX overlords.
