Does anyone know of a way to make the Daz search work any better than it does at default because let's be honest, it's pretty naff. Or maybe someone has learned a way to configure things differently so that it can actually find something that you're looking for ?
I've tried changing some of my content folders around and categorising same/similar items to the same place but still the search is awful. No matter what you search it will bring a list of a million things that might have some of the wording in that you used to initiate it but it never seems to find just what it is you were looking for and you end up going back to the laborious task of manually going through all the content again.
Sometimes, when I've forgotten exactly where I've stored something I've typed in the exact, correct name for what I'm looking for ...and yet still the Daz search can not or will not find it.
I find it very, very frustrating at times so if anyone has any ideas or suggestions on how to get it to work any better I'd greatly appreciate hearing them.Thanks..... Jon T.
January 26, 2019 at 12:30 PM #935737You can categories all items. I did that especially for shaders, clothing and scenes. Takes some time to build up, but afterwards very rewarding, especially as you can assign every item to more than one category.

January 26, 2019 at 2:54 PM #935881Thanks eelgoo, I do already install everything manually but however, I still leave stuff in there default folder names. I did that thinking it might be easier for 'the search' to find them. I'll read through your article fully a little later as I'm a bit busy right now, thanks again.
January 27, 2019 at 2:25 PM #937119When the amount of items you have builds up - you need some organisation to keep track. Looking for a "short black skirt with the tassels" is nigh on impossible if looking through your content folders.
I create custom nested categories such as .. Female > Clothing > Skirts > Short .. every time I get a new item, after installation, I place it in the correct category. Means I can find exactly what I want in seconds .. Takes me about 30 seconds in total to find the female model I want, her hair and outfit (even if made up from different sources) ..
Will be a nightmare to set up if you have a big collection already and NOT done anything like that so far .. but, even then, long term .. it's worth it ..
January 27, 2019 at 7:46 PM #937457Thanks, I think you are right. It's probably going to take weeks to do but I think my best option is to do something similar to what you have done because I just can'y rely on the Daz search to find very much.
Thanks to everyone for their input here, at least I have a couple of new ideas on how to work around the default search now..
