what in the world is the reasoning behind this? anybody know?
I mean do people really keep track of this or like me if i come across the item in the future fine if not, oh well.... seems to me whoever the uploader is is likely missing out on a lot of downloads if that matters to them at all.

Quite frustrating, it eventually turns up on only sites and doesn't cost anything. If they released it sooner, this site might get more revenue... who knows how the system works.

The subject has already been discussed.
You can contact the uploader to politely ask for the link if you don't have the patience to wait.
And if your memory is as bad as mine, you have this link to help you:
    https://zonegfx.com/category/upcoming/
Or more simply, you consult the home page.

One reason for this is to let the content artist make some sales before it gets released by the pirate sites. It also lets others know that it WILL be released so that they donโ€™t have to bother buying it.

    That's a little contradictory.

On that note, I'm 'okay' with the idea of the content creators actually getting a 'grace period' (hell, i would love it if we could all buy the content the creators made), but I find the whole idea of having a post already included without a download link silly and impractical.

The upcoming shares is a fine idea but not the way it is implemented.

My solution, keep the upcoming shares as a feature but don't put the 'download page' in the posting list until the share becomes available.

I understand your reasoning, I was just poking fun. That does bring up a good point though. If people REALLY, REALLY want it they will remember/bookmark it for later. Unlike those share sites where the uploader will (hopefully?) forget about it and, in-turn, help keep the creators product a viable option for more sales.

..Maybe that is just wishful thinking on my part though (been sniffing to much of that model glue, making me think the world is all rainbows and polyester glitter). ๐Ÿ˜›

    Anyway, take care!

I have tested the feature, using it for uploading gave a huge drop in points, because the item isn't on page one and buried in the archiv as soon as it's available for download. my advice would be to drag it to page 1 when the download link is available.

Just a suggestion... maybe on the All Posts drop-down menu there could be an "Upcoming Releases" sub-menu for these delayed items.

You know something? I find it rather touching that some folks are concerned for the welfare of my points bank/collection on here. It almost makes me want to go out and buy up the whole Daz Store, then share it with everyone. If they are really concerned though, they could always contribute by making an offer for the items by PM, politely of course. Anyway, like it or lump it, it is what it is. ๐Ÿ™‚

I am one of those who browse the site, gets excited to see something I want, click and find that there's a week before it becomes available and, depending on how badly I want it, find it elsewhere..

ZGFX has been my preferred website for years (and the only one I actively contribute on), not so much after the implementation of delayed content.

There are a number of points for and against this practice. Even this early after it's inception it is causing a number of differing opinions - and that is just from those who wish to comment. A large number of members will be unlikely to comment either way - and will likely just look elsewhere for the item.
As the number of items increase it is likely this level of dissension will also increase.
Not looking like something that will benefit the site.
It is likely that a number of people will purchase an item at the same time [how many times have you gone to fill a request, only to find someone has just beaten you to it?
Is this more designed to preempt someone posting an item?

Personally, if you want to share an item on the site - it is available from the time you upload the details. Upcoming is just a frustrating delay tactic, that should be considered a failed experiment.
