ArtStation is perhaps one of the most popular 3D artwork websites. But I am very confused about their ruls on adult content.

Based on what they wrote here:

    https://help.artstation.com/hc/en-us/articles/360056656752

    Pornography, Hentai and Erotic Content

ArtStation is not a place to publish pornography, hentai or any form of erotic content. Any explicit descriptions, links, displays of sexual organs or activities intended to stimulate erotic rather than aesthetic or emotional feelings are liable to be removed and accounts banned. Even with the mature content filter on, any erotic artwork is not tolerated and accounts are banned. There is no recourse for this - we will not respond to any accounts that are banned for publishing erotic content.

In particular, they say "displays of sexual organs or activities intended to stimulate erotic rather than aesthetic or emotional feelings are liable to be removed and accounts banned"

The logical connection word here is "or" so one doesn't have to post pictures with male/female lower body genitals in order to get banned... but on the other hand there are quite a few mature contents that seem to have crossed the red line

For example, this one https://www.artstation.com/artwork/580Pq8 (Warning this contains nudity...). This picture has been posted for three years on ArtStation and the same author has a lot of similar works, but they are not banned... I can also get you a lot more examples (actually you can also easily find them by yourselves)

So now I am very confused about their policies. How do you understand their posting policies on adult content?

Guess its just a thin line between artistic freedom and vulgarity

    for example.. this is art

and if you have David stroking an erect member in the same pose.. that vulgarity..

    Simple as that 🙂

.. and then there are a few who might be offended by the art itself.. and that's why WE have this.. 🙂

How about this Indian art @Gladson1976?

    😀 That's a toughie..

That is an illustration for the Kama Sutra, which basically deals with the art of living well, the nature of love, finding a life partner, maintaining one's love life, and other aspects pertaining to pleasure-oriented faculties of human life..

Guess it depends on who is looking at it.. and I would add the Parental Advisory disclaimer 😀

Yes a Parental Advisory disclaimer is always a good idea if in doubt. I saw this on Youtube this morning that didn't have one but badly needed it.... Eric the cocky hates the dog... language advisory.
