Hey all -- ran into some trouble with a dforce strand-based hairstyle, was curious if someone else here has run into this and knows what I can do to fix this.

I was trying to apply the Soo A hair (from this bundle) to an existing G8.1F character I had, only to find the hair looked like the figure on the right here:

    soo a hair test

-- with all the hair bunched up at the front, while the top, sides and back of the head looked bald. (Left figure is what the hair ought to look like.)

After a bunch of troubleshooting I narrowed down the problem to the skin material assigned to the character. Most character materials seem to cause this issue with this hairstyle, but the default 8.1 materials plus a few other 8.1 characters had materials that were fine (made the hair look like the one on the left).

I noticed most of the ones that broke the hair were Hierarchial Materials, and most of the ones that didn't were regular materials. At first I thought that was the root of the problem, but then I did find one H. material that did work with the hair, and one regular material that didn't. So the issue might be a bit more nuanced than h. materials vs. regular materials. At any rate, the issue is definitely SOMEthing with materials...

Does anyone know enough about strand-based hair to know what could be causing this, and how I can fix it? (Ideally a way that doesn't involve redoing the entire material setup my existing character is using.)

I just tried a couple of G8.1F characters with this hair, found no problem.
It seems that no hair was generated for Head surface in the screenshot you posted...but it's weird... Pls first check the params on its Head surface...

Then pls double-check your figure... Such an issue will only happen on G8.0F since there's no Head surface on 8.0.

I can confirm all the hair attributes you pointed out in the first screenshot look the same on my end.

As for 8 vs 8.1, the character I was trying this hairstyle on used VYK Astarte as a starting point, who is an 8.1 character. Also both of the test models I had in my original screenshot were default 8.1 female models, just with different skin materials applied.
