Hey all,
Now before anyone shoots me down in flames, I have read and searched and re-read posts, reddit stuff etc. All of which made things really clear.... As mud. Now, I have installed SD on my PC and it works. No trouble there. However I have tried all sorts of settings and tried img2img with some daz renders, but FFS and that's for flip's sake, results are, shall we say I could give Picasso a run for his money?
Could some good soul please give me a pointer on img2img settings to achieve some decent results?
Thanks muchly ya'll
BenAugust 21, 2025 at 10:46 AM #2142020I think it depends on what you are trying to achieve - the new Qwen edit model seems to do a good job of taking an image and changing a pose or expression, clothing or background. I even managed to combine two separate images of people into a combined whole. I tend to use comfyui. Am no way an expert but i was an early adopter although took about 8 months away from it and it has moved on a whole lot. As an example this was taking the product image of P3d Maud and adding it to an existing AI image i had generated
August 21, 2025 at 11:48 AM #2142030Hi Andy and thanks for your reply.. That looks hyper-realistic, I must say. I'll download and try comfyui and see how I go. May I bother you if I get stuck?
Thanks again
BenAugust 21, 2025 at 12:19 PM #2142037happy to help if i can - do you use the Anjabear discord server? There is a thread on AI we can chat there
August 21, 2025 at 12:20 PM #2142038by the way the comfyui workflow should be embedded in the image
August 21, 2025 at 4:14 PM #2142058Converting from a daz render to more realistic in img2img is an artform in itself. There's so many ways to skin a cat there. But here's some things to make it easier. 1) try doing in multiple sections with inpainting instead of the whole image at one time. For instance head only, then get the best from those results, and use that result in img2img inpainting for the upper body. Then repeat for all sections. Can get more precise control this way, because sometimes some areas of a body need different settings than others because SD has trouble with certain poses. 2) if you cant get a face just right, and you have an idea what you want the face to look like, supply an image of the face you want the result to look like and use it as the source image in a controlnet ip-adapter. 3) can also use reactor face swap together with the ip-adapter, or can skip the ip-adapter and just do rector, but using both is superior if the desired face is significantly different than the render, because ip-adapter also changes structure of the face, whereas reactor is sorta like the wallpaper that goes over it (for a simplified description).
There are a lot of settings in the various things I just mentioned, if you need clarification on settings for any of them just ask. Because I dont know your skill level with each of them.
You could also just do things very basic in img2img and just mess with the denoise level until you get something passable. (But generally, this is the way everyone begins their experiences with SD, and the results are usually not the greatest)
Theres a lot more stuff, but it might be difficult to grasp right now if you are just beginning with SD, but can start with these. Learning all the various tweaks is a skill (just like learning all the brushes and tools in photoshop, except they are very different tools and settings), but once you start learning how to make them work for you, you will be very pleased.
August 27, 2025 at 3:29 AM #2142810Hey all, thanks for all the replies, sorry for the delay.. I'll tinker around a bit and see. I'm new to SD, so there will be a steep learning curve..
Best to all
