Just a light hearted vent lol. I saw the new Butcher shop on Renerosity and thought, oh that looks nice. Then I saw the rotisserie in the customer area.

I can't imagine anyway that would work, unless chicken roasting tech has come a long way since I worked at Sam's Club. The number of times I burned myself or nearly busted my ass in the grease that accumulates infront of those thing everytime you take out a rack is insane.
Also trying to figure out why there's one pressed ham amongst all the raw meat... wait... there's no sink?! BRB calling the digital health department.July 25, 2022 at 4:49 PM #1835117That doesn't surprise me.
I can't count the number of 3D rooms I have seen that don't have a door.

July 25, 2022 at 7:16 PM #1835186Is sad when something is almost what you want, today most of the time I have to export to Blender/Zbrush to change something, It was yesterday when I almost made the whole piece from scratch
July 25, 2022 at 9:21 PM #1835228@eelgoo Clearly those rooms are made by maniacs that used to delete the ladders out of pools in The Sims. They just want CG people to suffer lol
July 25, 2022 at 9:48 PM #1835231A lot are poorly or very poorly optimised, but Tesla3D & PerspectX usually are very light in file size & nicely presented.
🙂
July 26, 2022 at 12:56 AM #1835274The thing that stood out for me is the poor promo images and this PA isn't the only one. All of the promo renders, the thing that sells your stuff, are full of fireflies because whoever made them couldn't be bothered to let them render any longer. I'd be embarrassed to publish images like that, and I'm not trying to sell anything.
I feel like, "if you can't be bothered doing a decent image why should I be bothered buying your stuff." I've seen many Daz PAs with the same lazy half-arsed attitude towards their own promo images. Would you publish a Tinder profile picture of yourself first thing in the morning after a long night out on the turps? Surely if you're aim is to present your product (yourself) in the best possible light you'd be trying to make it look as good as possible. Looks like some just couldn't be bothered.
July 26, 2022 at 7:17 AM #1835361Or selling hair that doesn't show any view from the back. Or selling clothing that has metallicity/reflectivity at 100% or even an emissive node for christ's sake.
Not having a high-end GPU is no excuse in my book. Any system spec will do a good image if you wait long enough for it to converge. I'm calling it out lazy or couldn't care.July 26, 2022 at 9:01 AM #1835398@littlepleasures
Oh yeah... I hate the tell-tale black forehead marks resulting from improperly fitted hair caps. It is a nasty Studio bug (due to mismanagement of world coordinates in Iray, or so I have read) and It had ruined many good renders (mainly with OOT products). If somemone knows a radical remedy... The funny thing is that our pirate discussions would be very useful to the developers (if there are a few remaining...). Bitter but not beaten...July 26, 2022 at 9:52 AM #1835419@corbeau, this problem is easily solved by adjusting the hair parameters. Even if I missed this moment and made a render with a black stripe on forehead, it's easy to fix it in Photoshop in 30 seconds.
July 26, 2022 at 12:44 PM #1835445@littlepleasures Oof, yeah, I got a figure I thought was going to be heavy set from the promo pics, but she just had a round face on a typical tiny body. It seems like including at least one full body pic would be standard.
@corbeau I've gotten to where I just automatically bump up the headsize on most hair assets. Is it just me or does it seem like a lot of the ones that used to fit no longer do?July 26, 2022 at 12:46 PM #1835446Thanks yngvarr but I somewhat disagree : it is not easily solved, a slight change of light source or camera position ruins the hair parameters solution (and I tend to use a lot of scene presets with fully clothed and haired characters), the solution only works for one configuration and is error prone in most others, further you discover the full problem only in rendering, Iray preview is not enough. True Photoshop is my friend in this case but I consider a waste of precious time and a further hindrance in my work flow. Well there are so many other major problems (notably abysmal morph loading, RAM waste and poor IK), this one is not a non-starter...
July 26, 2022 at 3:56 PM #1835511@corbeau, having adjusted the hair once, I no longer face this problem. Maybe you are setting up something wrong? Usually it is enough to adjust a couple of parameters for the forehead or for the size of the head. To see the black marks in the Iray preview, it is necessary that the Subdivision level coincides with the Render SubD. By the way, this also applies to holes in the adjacent clothing.
July 27, 2022 at 7:58 AM #1835744Thank you for your interest in the hair question. It seems you have found a working solution.
@littlepleasures
You are right about the eye and ray length issue, I was making a hasty conclusion... (sounded logical to explain my hair problems but...) and your explanation is perfectly clear. Curiously I confirm I had several experiences of tweaking the hair-forehead in Iray preview and having to redo the thing after full render. Now it may be because I use extensively the post-denoiser (and I tweak prematurely) or that I have refused to upgrade my DS 4.12.86 (because it is rock stable)... I will have to check the sub-D level with more attention. I considered myself a somewhat educated DS user, but a lesson in humility is always welcome....
I will conduct some tests with what all of you (yngvarr and others) wrote in mind.
Thanks again for your time and advices.July 28, 2022 at 7:37 AM #1836161Ok, my problem was from Subd levels discrepancies... I found a can of worms in my "actors" scene subsets (ready to use) I had saved them with various subD render levels, ie what was good for one was bad for the others in complex scenes... I learnt a lot from this discussion. Thanks again.
