Ive run into this with both G3 and G8.. Mostly G8.
When I start working with a figure, its normally good. As in posing. I can select any body part directly (in the viewport). But after a while, with some figures, not all, I'm unable to select a body part in order to pose it. Sometimes I can select say a chest, but nothing else. I have to use the scene tab and scroll the hierarchy to select the body part.
However, this doesn't happen with clothes or hair or accessories. JUST the body parts.I don't know how to fix this. The situation remains the same even if I close the scene and come back to it later. Its a pain not being able to select body parts directly..
Anyone experience this? Been able to fix it? Or am I once again a lone wolf with a unique issue?
This happen to be occasionally and if you if you try collapsing and expanding the figure hierarchy a few times it usually fixes it.
Know it seems basic, but make sure you are not in Geometry Editor (or other editor/tool) mode.
Depending on your workspace layout and chosen icons/shortcuts, it can be easy to unintentionally click into a mode other than Node Selection (arrow) mode, and not know unless you're looking straight at it.
Telltale signs are not being able to quickly and easily select between figures/geometries in the viewport, and textures not appearing correctly (whether in texture shaded, Iray, or other display modes).
Just a thought.EDIT: Also make sure the figure components you're trying to select are checked as "Selectable (in Viewport)" in the the scene list. It's also easy to inadvertently uncheck things sometimes when making components visible/invisible from the scene list.
