The scene and the scene subset contains a morph dialled G8.1 character and clothing.
Loading the scene subset immediately after saving it works correctly.
After restarting Daz the scene subset loads as a different saved scene.
Why does this happen and how do you fix it?July 28, 2021 at 3:38 PM #1715874I've never seen anything like that before...
Scene and Scene Subset are essentially the same, however:
Scene saves the entire current scene as-is, and its default load behavior is to clear the current scene and load its data as a new scene. It may be merged on-demand, like a scene subset.Scene Subset is intended to save portions of the current scene, and gives you a palette of objects to include/exclude upon save. Its default behavior is to merge the data into the current scene.
Both will preserve any morphs dialed in on scene objects.
Do you possibly have file names or paths mixed up?
July 28, 2021 at 6:11 PM #1715897Thanks for the reply Amber. I appreciate your help.
It gets weirder, I deleted the scene that the scene subset loads as, and it still manages to load as that scene. Even after clearing the temp folder, and all manner of caches... Restarting the pc...
The paths has remained unchanged for a very long time with frequent scenes and scene subset creations that loads correctly. Hovering on the problematic scene subset's thumbnail shows the correct path.
(Scene A is used to create the scene subset which loads as Scene B. Scene A loads fine when opening it, but if I merge it, it loads as Scene B, the same behaviour as the scene subset.)
As far as I know there isn't filenames mixed up.
Luckily I've found a workaround. I loaded the base G8.1 figure, applied the saved shape, material and wearables presets. Saved it as a scene subset, and it works fine. I hope this doesn't re-occur somehow.
July 28, 2021 at 6:53 PM #1715904When you saved the scene subset did you uncheck all the items that you didn't want loading into the future projects?
Usually when I save a scene subset it's solely for a character or a group of characters that I move between scenes - the ones you want saving should be the only ones checked when you do the final choices.
July 28, 2021 at 7:10 PM #1715906Appreciated Frank. Thanks.
I unchecked all the unwanted items. Cameras, group, discarded outfit choices.
The difference between Scene A and Scene B is several morphs dialled at different values. And some unique morphs to each too. And the figure is posed, even though when saving the scene subset, the pose is zeroed.
July 29, 2021 at 7:26 AM #1715987Go to Preferences/On Launch [& On New] settings and delete whatever you have as the launch/new scene file. This should give you a clean scene upon launch/new. I suspect that you accidently overwrote your load/new scene file with something in it with links to a character, like a piece of clothing or a geoshell that was hidden.
August 1, 2021 at 5:32 PM #1716898@frank22, I finally had a chance to test your suggestion, and am pleasantly surprised that it worked! Thank you very much Frank21!
I don't know which setting exactly, but I will narrow it down.August 2, 2021 at 2:47 AM #1717008What I suggested was only a stab in the dark but I'm happy it worked for you.
