My Titan does not have that much cuda cores only the same amount 24gb memory yet it cost me more.

Tom's h/w was saying the 3090 is 30-40% faster than than the Titan. At what, I don't remember. And that was based on improved architecture throughput and, of course, more than double the cuda cores. Since they are almost impossible to snag, we'll have to wait until one of our more financially secure members can get one and let us know.

Puts my 1080ti to shame. Double the vram and almost 3 times the cores.

Rumors are that Nvidia is working on a new Titan based on the 3090 that will have up to 64 gig vram and throughput of 1 terabyte/second. Their goal is to get to fully immersible gaming within 5-6 years at 8-16K.

I'm not a gamer so I don't care about that. But something powerful enough to drive an AI engine to create video with lifelike characters of my choosing that can be built in a weekend. That's what I'm waiting for.

I am not a gamer but the Titan can obviously play high-end games. The 3090 will be faster because....wait for....it's optimized for gaming so it's poised to take advantage of games.

The Titan has about the same perf as the 2080Ti, so it wasn't worth the price only for gaming. Maybe I can get a few more fps out of some games, and others like MS Flight Sim 2020 are starting to push beyond the 11 GB VRAM limit, but the gain is negligible.

That's of course NOT the reason why I bought it, and as a business expense it wasn't that much and easily justifiable just for the time saved on large renders. And with its capabilities it's a GPU I can use for 3-4 more years as I second card, same as I'm doing with the 1080Ti now, which is now more than 3 years old and still has some good rendering power.

So buying high end cards, even at ridiculous prices, isn't that ridiculous if you look at the whole picture and don't focus only on the initial price. These cards will last for a long time.

On a strictly rendering approach - has anyone seen any comparisons to a Quadro RTX 5000 card? 🙂
