Find a host in Brazil. If they don't care about 3Dick antics maybe they don't care about the rest. Hell, use own host against. How cozy would that be.
I miss Kickass Torrents. I also miss the ease with which I was able to fire up eDonkey and grab stuff there back in the day.
The only problem I see is that eventually, torrents go dry, drop off, and all you have left is a massive tease on some tracker site. Worse, oftentimes you wound up with an incomplete torrent and 4 or 5 sad leechers keeping the pieces going, all praying for the day that someone reconnects and seeds-up the missing pieces.
At least here (and let's be honest, similar sites), oldie-but-goodie assets can be found and downloaded, then rediscovered. At least, the old stuff has a much longer shelf-life than the torrents do.

We could all just take our own assets and create torrents with them.
If you got 25 GF8s Sitting in a folder, go ahead and make a torrent. There are bound to be repeats but maybe have a torrent thread where we can list all the assets in the 4GB Torrent we post.
That way, Torrents and the normal system could co-exist.I am thinking that if the torrents were rather large... 10-100gb... it would be mostly older stuff anyway, and trade in the current single item things would still be robust.
It would be great to get ALL of the GF3/GM3 content in a couple of clicks. Same with V4/M4 G2 etc.

Similar comments made for years now - right down to the seemingly insignificant addition of text files and images to original content files.
Nothing is insignificant - a bloody great advert to 'where we live', that can easily fall into the hands of those that envy/despise/whant to close us.....Oh.. Wait.. Hmmm.

I won't let the community suffer, hence I spend over 8 hours a damned day on just this DMCA Takedown jackassery. I worked too hard to make this my favorite place to be.

I believe shitty software is at the heart of the problem, which is why Daz developed bridges. Shout-out to @Ethiopia - I would rather see them partner with the guy creating the Diffeomorphic plugin for Blender to have better compatibility. Creating a Daz style UI for Blender will help with the transition. Daz3D is free anyway... so why not? Can atleast animate then. Taking the word of many more experienced members, Poser can't compare with Daz3D.
Almost unbearable software has indirectly led to fewer Published Artists creating content for the stores. Remember those great PAs? Rarestone, Emma and Jordi... Gone. Why? Money ofcourse. Daz, Rendo didn't make it lucrative for them. The software vendors are canabilising their PAs profits which has led to fewer assets and fewer quality assets causing less sales. Daz and Rendo then had to increase their prices resulting in increased piracy causing even less sales and angry demoralized PAs. Enter Genesis 9, a halfhearted attempt for sales with the opposite effect, unless Genesis 9 products are backwards compatible without too much hassle, which it isn't. With great software Genesis 9 might have been successful independent of G8/3 as their would be a bigger consumer base to grow with it. As it stands it is abandoning buyers invested in G8/3.
If the software was better, it could sustain piracy better. Then piracy could help it grow, currently, it's adding to the problem because the ecosystem is too small and unable to grow.
Measures to improve things are obvious. Invest in creating better software, attract more PAs by means of better revenue share, and enable them to create better assests by means of publicly available up to date documentation and tutorials. Maybe make the documentation Wikipedia style where everyone can build on it, who knows how much Daz's parent company can invest. Right now we have to pirate responsibly or face killing the thing we love. Maybe it's death would be a good thing, so that something better can emerge from it. Don't know if it's beyond saving.
To sum it up:
High quality usable software = Asset Demand = PAs = Sales = Sustainable Piracy.

In the past I've searched for certain Daz products by their name and have Zone appear higher in the search results than Daz.
I do think it's a good idea to wait a few weeks before posting a newly released item to the blog.
Adding a private torrent tracker to ZGFX might be a good way to get around some of these issues.

emule is still going 0.60d is current version, i've got a 15000 poser/ds files available there right now, though the uploading of newer stuff has slowed, old V4 and before stuff pops up very frequently.If members can get site access/permissions to edit their own posts, then it would be a snap to replace a taken down image and / or the download links.
It's too much work for a couple of mods but if each member could take care of only their own posts, links and images can be replaced faster than they are taken down.
