I think its funny that in the world of 3D art, people are striving so much to create the most realistic renders they can.
They want the real world lighting effects, they want to add all kinds of imperfections to make the models eyes, hair, skin and clothing to look as realistic as possible. They want the veins, scars, bent nose, missing teeth, freckles, and so on. They want those photo realistic results so bad.
But now take a look at art in real world photography. We actually go and do the complete opposite. We are not happy with those realistic images of models taken with a camera and the realistic lighting. We go and fix them, enhance them, we change the lighting and make them better.
For example, take a look at the Models that feature in magazines. All those images are digitally edited and enhanced. They are all retouched, we remove the scars, the pimples, the tan lines, the blemishes, all the flaws are all gone and they end up looking more fake than realistic.
Real world photographers can spend hours removing realism from their artwork.
Daz3d artists can spend hours adding realism to their artwork.
Something to think about it.
