I have a few questions so thank you to anyone who can answer.
1. I just got a new PC. I have a RTX 3090 ti and the processor is an Intel i9 12900 KS 3.4. GHz. when rendering should I disable the processor or would it help since it's a powerful one? Should I keep the failback option enabled?
2. What are some good options for creating indoor lighting besides just creating a spotlight. Spotlighting doesn't fill the entire room with light.
3. On some hairstyles, it doesn't show up in the preview or final render. Just the scalp and only about 50% of the time the scalp shows. Is there a setting I'm missing or any other ideas?
Thank you.

2. That's a long topic I'll leave someone else to answer.
3. Those are typically fibermesh hair. There should be an option to activate preview (which is when you activate Iray on the Wiewport, but they should definitely always been visible in the render (when you actually press the blue "render" button).
August 6, 2022 at 12:51 AM #18467511. Some people report faster renders, some people report slower renders. You may need to test for yourself. As a data point, I keep my CPU off and see no difference in render time.
If you leave CPU on, make sure to turn off "CPU fall back" and reduce the maximum threads used by 2-6.
2. Like Legolas18 wrote, it's a long topic. Start your search with "ghost lights."
3. Most dForce hair by default doesn't render in the Iray PREVIEW unless you manually turn it on.
Congrats on the new PC! That one is a beast! 😉
August 6, 2022 at 4:18 AM #1847387Thank you for the replies. Yeah, I'm enjoying render times on the new one. The old desktop might take 30 to 45 minutes even more for one character, hair, and clothes but with no background objects or anything like that. One character, hair, and clothes is like 30 to 45 seconds in my test so far.
August 8, 2022 at 9:33 PM #1850301I found this video on the topic of indoor lighting and found it helpful. Thought I'd share it.
August 8, 2022 at 11:25 PM #1850331With a 3090 ti (24Gb VRAM) I don't see any reason to have CPU render enabled. Almost all the dForce hair I have is visible and renders in Iray preview, but a few don't.
As for indoor lighting I generally remove the roof/ceiling and use an ambient HDRI, adding a ghost light/s to simulate light from a window/s. This usually means I need to up the overall brightness with tone mapping exposure value.August 9, 2022 at 11:44 PM #1850843Thank you for the advice and tips everyone. It is very much appreciated.
