    Hey fellow artists,

I had a few questions I was hoping someone could help me with.

I am looking to make a visual novel (I know me and everybody else). I have some personal purchased content and some content I have obtained from this website. I only plan on using 2D renders that I have created for my game.

Since I have technically not 'purchased' the content from the store. Am I not able to use those renders that involve that content in my game? What if I had another artist commission the work. Would I have to prove they own that content?

Just curious on how it works overall. I am not looking for opinion replies as much as how it actually functions for games with 2D renders.

    Thanks!

AFAIK, all renders is in yours copyright, not daz copyright whether it is from officially purchasing or you get it from here, anyway Daz doesn't know whether you got it from here or bought them through store unless you stupidly boasting that your are pirating their stuff...back to the topic, creative license in Daz Store refer to if you actually use (in this case importing) the 3d asset (the whole files, not only the render) in your games, which usually big animated game studio do,not something a small Visual Novel maker usually done,as we more likely do static render

    Hi @Tancha ,

Obviously using assets you do not own can lead to issues. The trick is Daz has virtually no way of checking that. I am also completing a VN and I went back and made sure I owned all the assets I used. 2 reasons for this. 1. I do not have to worry someone will throw me under a bus re asset ownership. 2. If I like the asset enough to use it in my game I believe the PA should be rewarded.

So long story short it would be very rare for Daz to cause you any issues, especially if you morph the models to make it harder to identify which is the base model used.

    SDL.

You're fine. There are no copyright policies saying you can't. This is what Daz is for. To create art. Professionally, hobbyist, doesn't matter. Daz isn't going to do or say anything.

Its when you get into sharing ACTUAL content in games, where some creators have special extended licensing you can buy, which you better have.
