Greetings to one and all, I have a question for all.
On certain Links to download, I will be directed to download and it will download an achive, a few times these achives have been empty.
So I report as a dead link, However once checked by the Admin team, some of the download links have been found to be working?
Has this happened to anyone else?Kind regards to one and all
MadmungoSeptember 25, 2021 at 4:41 PM #1733063can you show a screenshot? I never experienced it personally. if ever just broken links but not empty archives.

This is what i get when I unzip certain files
September 26, 2021 at 6:31 AM #1733170@Madmungo, Try a different decompressor. My personal preference is 7zip. I've had similar issues with .rar and .zip files that WinRAR reports as corrupt or empty, but 7zip will open without any problems.
September 26, 2021 at 8:12 AM #1733188my advice is use 7zip, looks like the the zip utility can't properly read the file.
September 26, 2021 at 8:54 AM #1733211Another vote for 7zip
A robust & reliable little program.
🙂September 26, 2021 at 12:24 PM #1733256You can also try to extract the folder, then re-zip it. That's what I usually do with archives that won't install in IM so maybe it'll work for your problem. Just make sure the folder hierarchy and the zip name is the same to the original one. But yeah migrating to 7zip probably is for the best because most file sharers use that so you can be sure to open most of the files you find here.

September 29, 2021 at 5:39 AM #1734125The reason 7zip can read corrupt files... it does dirty tricks.
If there's a problem with the archive, having the error is important, can save headaches down the road. WinRAR is the de-facto standard as it is the most technically critical; you should be using that and if you find a bad archive, use the Test and Repair tools. Use a kluge like 7zip as a last resort. (7zip is a fine tool, but can allow bugaboos)
In several thousand zips, I've only ever found two, maybe three that appeared to be fine but were refused by DIM. Re-compressing works, or again, Test/Repair.
Also, try Bandizip if you need to work with archives compressed with nonstandard codepages like Shift-JIS etc. It will actually display and extract the proper character sets instead of spitting out garbage.
