I haven't really decided yet to be honest. Can't say I've fired up DS a lot since I returned, but I do love some of the new characters!
Yes, they are starting to look better, but I didn't / won't install G9 because of it's bloat & limitations. 🙂
The main problem with it is the strand based hair. I just love hair and apparently they can't cross generations. It's generation specific, isn't it?
I wish there was an easy way to transfer textures as well. I don't really like the graphs option, that's why I'm looking for ways to convert them. I think I knew how in the past, but it's all gone now.Some modern hair transfers over OK, most do not.
I am not really a fan of the strand based items, I don't think they look that great.
TBH I find legacy hair styles can look very good with modern shaders.I find it weird that there's no tool to transfer the hair yet. Given the general hate for G9, you'd think that there would be an effort to make them available for all generations.
I guess Daz really wants to make G8 obsolete by, perhaps, forcing users to have no other choice but to use G9, if they want all the new shiny toys.
That is exactly what they are trying to do.
There is, and has been for a while. Not a commercial one but one created by our very own Richard. He did a G9 to G8 clone for clothing & hair.
It works very well for clothing & is pretty good for most hair styles.
As I said, some strand based hair doesn't cooperate though.

Finally found the thread I had started before I left "Morph transfer V4 to GF8.1"
I had managed to convert GND to G8 but it all sounds alien to me now. It's so strange to just forget something you spent so much time on.Life moves on, but even so, I think you will find that it will quickly become familiar again, once you get back into it.
Way back RSA promised a V4 - V8 Character Converter, but I think Daz must have nixxed it.
Very probably it is exactly the same situation with a G9 - G8 Character Converter 🙁🙂
I love this new Enya character and I was wondering if anyone managed to download the Enya from Quad Loverrs patreon before it was deleted.
Ive tried converting with GND. I think I mostly got it but something just looked off in the neck area. Eventually talked myself into abandoning V4 because G3 and G8 are just better and dont lack very much in the accessories or characters area.
I decide to retry G9 since I'll probably let AI fix it anyway. For what little time I have and as often as I rendered stuff now it really doesn't matter. I do more with clothes on than off so the crappy breasts on 9 should be fine. AI seems to be going PG anyway
