Do you have any understanding of how complicated it might be to include a 'favorites' option? I honestly don't. Does Hunter merely click a WordPress 'Create favorites system' check box and that's all there is to it? Is there a pre-existing WordPress favorites scripting package? What is required? What time? What effort? What subsequent bugs? What bug fixes? Would it increase the memory overhead of the site? Would more requests for financial support pop up? And so on.
Do you have any idea of the simplicity of creating and managing a bookmarks folder on your own? I honestly do.
Regardless of that, why should Hunter care to put forth the effort? Are you going to stop coming to Zone to get free products if a favorites option isn't incorporated? Clearly not.

I honestly don't know the complication, thus the questions. But I have the awareness to know that it isn't a simple on/off toggle.
And in what way am I preventing Hunter from speaking for himself? If Hunter wanted a favorites option, then there would be a favorites option. That you admit having made the request in the past...and were laughed at...speaks for itself.
As I implied, it isn't as if you have any leverage on the decision. You aren't going to stop visiting if Hunter doesn't include a favorites option. It's simple economics.
Guys, please don't fight over something this small. 😅 Everyone is just sharing ideas and feedback.
We actually had a Favorites/Bookmark system in the past where users could save posts for later. Some of the older users here might remember it.
The problem was that as the site grew, more and more users started saving large numbers of posts. Over time, that added a lot of extra database load and caused performance issues. We eventually had to remove the bookmark system along with a few other features to keep the site stable and responsive. Some of the long-time users probably remember the days when the site would slow down, hang, or randomly throw errors. 😅
Also, as most of you know, Zone is basically run for almost free and survives mainly through user donations. I can't justify renting huge enterprise-level servers that cost more than what the community can realistically support.
Because of that, I have to balance features with the resources we can afford. Every new feature sounds simple on the surface, but many of them add extra database queries, storage, processing, maintenance, and future bug fixes. If server costs go up too much, it becomes harder to keep the site running.
If the community grows and support increases, I can always move to more powerful infrastructure and add more resource-heavy features. 😄
To be honest, in the early days I didn't have as much experience and I added all kinds of features because they sounded cool. 😂 That led to a lot of headaches, performance problems, and emergency fixes. So these days I'm a bit more cautious and try to add features based on what the server can comfortably handle.
That said, I do understand the usefulness of a Favorites feature, especially for requests and items you want to revisit later. I'll see if I can come up with a lighter bookmark system when I get some free time.
One idea could be limiting the number of saved items per user, restricting it to certain user groups, or automatically removing bookmarks after a period of time since many old posts eventually become dead links anyway.
No promises for now, but it's something I can look into in the future. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks to everyone who continues supporting the site. ❤️

Miss it even more...Groused a bit at the time... then moved on and made do without it.
If you never had it you should not complain about not getting it.
Ask by all means, for anything.
But stop the back-biting and whining if you do not get your way, and stop whining at others opinions.

TY.One thing I am curious about is how you implement this, mainly what would you save as bookmark? Is it product page link from request forum? If so, then when the product is filled, the page disappears so the bookmark becomes invalid. And saving product name/store links doesn't seem in the scope of Zone's functionality. I am not sure how it was before but with new request system doesn't seem too clear to me.
@john09 So far, I’m not sure yet.
Once I start working on it, I’ll figure out what’s possible. Unfortunately, I can’t do anything that the system doesn’t allow, so I’ll have to work within the current limitations and do my best to come up with a solution.
That said, it probably won’t be available for every user like before. I’ll need to find a way to limit it to a specific group of users only. 😕
